Paramount’s ‘TMNT: Mutant Mayhem’ Bags Sequel and Spin-Off Series


Paramount is set to unleash more Turtle Power after greenlighting a series of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem projects, including a sequel and an exclusive streaming series for Paramount Plus. While director Jeff Rowe’s highly-anticipated movie is yet to hit the big screens, Paramount’s confidence in its success is evident, as they are already looking ahead to expand the TMNT universe. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem Sequel

According to Variety, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies will collaborate on the follow-up film to Mutant Mayhem, with Jeff Rowe to again helm the production. As of now, details about the upcoming movie remain under wraps, which is not surprising, considering it hasn’t even been released.

That being said, we do know that Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu, and Brady Noon will be returning to reprise their roles as the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the sequel, as well as the surprise spin-off series.

Tales of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Series

Nickelodeon Animation and Point Grey Pictures are teaming up to bring us a new 2D series called Tales of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This series has already received been given a go-ahead for two seasons and is set to take place in the timeline between Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and its highly anticipated sequel. The series will be co-showrun and executive produced by Chris Yost and Alan Wan, and see our pizza-loving Turtles up against a whole new set of challenges.

Tales of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will depart from the turtles’ usual dynamic as a team, with Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo embarking on a solo journey for the very first time. Stripped of their usual brotherly support, the turtles will encounter new threats and reunite with old allies, pushing them to uncover their true selves in the absence of their familiar camaraderie.

TMNT Universe Expansion

During the big reveal, Paramount and Nickelodeon chief Brian Robbins said that the new instalments come off the back of continued support for the iconic characters. With a new generation of fans getting on board with the classic storylines, the time was right to expand the TMNT universe.

“In the nearly 40 years since Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles launched into the zeitgeist, it has entertained generations of fans and only continues to grow,” Robbins said. “We are excited to grow TMNT’s legacy in partnership with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg at Point Grey, and Jeff Rowe, who are innovating the franchise with their singular brand of humour and elevated storytelling for audiences everywhere, across virtually every platform.”
