Steph Curry’s $62.6 Million Contract Extension By The Numbers

According to Jeff Austin of Octagon, Steph Curry has signedone-year, $62.6 million extension with the Golden State Warriors. This contract extension will keep the four-time NBA Champion with the team through the 2026-27 season and adds to the $215.4 million contract he signed in August 2021.

Curry, who will turn 37 on March 14th, was only eligible to sign a one-year deal due to the NBA’s over-38 rule, which prevents teams from offering four years or more contracts to players over the age of 38. According to data from Spotrac, he currently has $178 million left on his contract.

By signing this contract extension, Steph Curry will become the fourth NBA player to surpass $500 million in career earnings and join his Team USA teammates, LeBron James, Paul George, and Kevin Durant.

Still, this contract extension doesn’t make Curry the highest-earning NBA player. That title belongs to Jason Tatum of the Boston Celtics, who signed a $314 million / 5-year deal in July after winning the NBA Championship. He’ll earn $71.4 million in the final season and $62.8 million annually on average.

Breaking down Steph Curry’s contract extension by the numbers, he’ll earn a staggering amount of money:

  • $763,415 per regular season game
  • $22,322 per minute played on the court (34.2-minute career average)
  • $171,507 every day
  • $119 every minute for a year

Curry will be without his Championship-winning backcourt teammate this NBA season as Klay Thompson looks for greener pastures with Luke Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. Still, we wouldn’t expect Steph and the Warriors to go backwards, as they add Buddy Hield and Kyle Anderson to a roster that includes championship teammates Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins, Kevon Looney, Gary Payton II, Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.

Last season, Curry averaged 32.7 minutes per game and put up 26.4 points per game, 5.1 assists, and 4.5 rebounds. It was a notable down season for the Warriors, who couldn’t string wins together and finished with a 46-36 record, which was only good enough for 10th place in the NBA Western Conference.

This season, the 10-time NBA All-Star will also look to lead the team back to the NBA Playoffs, improve his shooting efficiency, and build on his Olympics momentum, where he led Team USA in the knockout rounds to a Gold medal victory against France.
