Chef turned rapper turned AEW Wrestling superstar, Action Bronson, has unveiled his upcoming collaboration with New Balance on his Instagram overnight. Set to release in 2023, the shoe is the first collaborative rendition of the latest New Balance 990v6, a shoe that we had the chance to get hands-on with back in April.
A side-step from the Teddy Santis ‘MADE in USA’ series, the colourway is flagrant and full of attitude with bright green, blue, and pink hues. Initial reactions online are a mixed bag, with many NB faithful pointing out the similarities between this shoe and the Stray Rats collaboration that was released only a few months ago.
Nonetheless, we’re happy to see Bronsolino finally receive a collaborative sneaker after the mess that was his adidas Ultraboost.
A long-time sneaker connoisseur himself, this isn’t Action’s first collaborative rodeo. Heads would remember the controversy that surrounded his first effort with adidas – the Action Bronson x UltraBoost ‘Realtree Camo’ – a shoe that was shrouded in sneaker folklore after Bronson revealed that his ‘friends and family’ shoe was being resold on secondary marketplace sites such as GOAT.
“If I gave you a pair of my Ultra Boost and you sold them fuck you,” Bronson wrote on a Tweet that has since been deleted. “You are scum.”
In the eyes of many sneakerheads, it’s about time that Action Bronson received his own New Balance collaboration. A long-time friend of the brand (and an ambassador for Teddy Santis’ Aime Leon Dore brand), the rapper has flown the flag, wearing everything from the 574 to the 993 and the 990v6.
