The PG 2.5—the latest sneaker to come out of the partnership between Nike and Oklahoma City Thunder star Paul George—takes its inspiration from Paul George’s love of the game. No, not basketball, but video gaming. The PG 2.5 offers George’s shoe in a colourway modelled after the 1995 Sony PlayStation console. The left tongue also has a PlayStation logo while the logo on the right tongue lights up, much like the PS4-inspired PG2 from last February. The rest of the shoe features tonal overlays that match the four-button layout from the controller. Each heel also features a tab with text written in the PlayStation font.
George explained the shoe, saying, “For those who know me, gaming is a big part of who I am—I love the fans and I love this community, so it was amazing to see the gaming and sneaker worlds collide with the original PG2 collaboration. This time around, I wanted to take the design old school, back to my earliest days of gaming.
“For me—as I’m sure many of you can relate—those memories date back to the original PlayStation. Working with Nike and PlayStation, we focused on bringing that original PlayStation inspiration to life in this new design.”
The PG 2.5s are set for release December 1 and will retail for USD$110.
