In Partnership with Seiko

‘Tis the season to buy yourself or someone you love an automatic Seiko watch. From premium Prospex divers to the iconic Seiko 5s, the brand touches down on a full spectrum of styles and price points. A plethora of options perhaps, but conspicuous quality remains as recurring theme. It’s kept the Japanese watchmaker in business for nearly 140 years and it’ll keep them going for at least 140 more.

Leaving no choice behind, we present some of Seiko’s latest and greatest hits. We made sure to cover a number of different styles and prices to ensure all your options are on the table. Get one of these killer timepieces as a gift for the holidays to show someone you care…even if that someone is you (sometimes we neglect ourselves the most).

Without further delay, here’s our 2020 Christmas Gift Guide – Seiko Watch Edition.

Prospex Automatic Divers SRPF35K

Prospex Automatic Divers Watch SPB153J

Even after 55 years, Seiko’s Prospex range still knows how to make a splash. When the diver’s watch first debuted in 1965, it set revolutionary benchmarks for legibility and craftsmanship alike. With each new addition, the legacy lives on.

That brings us to the SPB153J and its unmistakable profile. The unique placement of the crown and girthy steel case imparts an almost avant-garde sensibility, prompting double-takes. Then we have the glorious green colour of the dial face, which will draw stares of its own. Thanks to Lumibrite, the hands and markers take on a signature glow under the cloak of darkness.

Water-resistant to 200m, the SPB153J runs on Seiko’s own 6R35 Calibre, an automatic movement with an impressive 70-hour power reserve. You can wind that movement with the motion of your wrist or use the screw-down crown. The men’s watch is protected by sapphire glass and affixed to a black strap of sleek silicon. If you can afford one, get one.

Prospex Automatic Watch SPB155J

Seiko’s beloved Alpinist range provides the aesthetic foundations for this premium Prospex watch. It cranks serious sophistication out of a classic dial display, upon which Arabic-like numerals align with dagger indices and a distinguished three-hand indicator revolving under sapphire glass against a textural backdrop.

Like the SPB153J, this model comes powered by the brand’s own self-winding 6R35 Calibre. Flip the dress watch over and peer through the exhibition case back to behold the precise movement in all its intricacy. Pair that with the piece’s stainless steel architecture and you get the ideal fusion of style and performance. Heads will turn.

Prospex Save The Oceans Automatic Divers Watch SRPE33K

Seiko’s Prospex “Save the Ocean” line was born out of a love for the ocean and it continues to serve that passion. The SRPE33K carries the theme to a literal place without going overboard (pardon the pun) and the results are stunning. Eyes are immediately drawn to the immaculate dial display, which sends understated stingray silhouettes across a rippling blue expanse.

Just as eye-catching are the hand indicators, baton indices, and oversized date window. Beyond that are a classic rotating bezel and stainless steel case and bracelet. Under the skin is 4R35 Calibre with a 41-hour power reserve. Meanwhile, we’re still thinking about that glorious ocean-like dial display…

Prospex Automatic Divers Watch SRPE03K

Equal parts minimalist and outspoken, the SRPE03K delivers a substantial case diameter of 45mm. Taking up extra real estate on the dial face is a stylish calendar display with both the day and the date. It comes flanked by round baton indices and a distinguished rotating bezel. When the Lumibrite kicks in, the watch’s hands and markers glow from within a black abyss.
