Swiss luxury watchmaker Longines consistently delivers high performance and so too do the athletes at the Commonwealth Games, hence the ongoing connection between these two entities. As the competition’s official partner and timekeeper, Longines has introduced the HydroConquest XXII Commonwealth Games. Tastefully adorned with event-themed details and an exclusive movement, the timepiece is limited to just 2,022 units.

Held once every four years, the Commonwealth Games sees athletes from over 70 nations and territories competing against each other. Precise timekeeping remains absolutely essential to the multisport event, making Longines an ideal partner. The connection between the Games and the watchmaker was first established with the 1962 Games in Perth and then renewed in 2014. It continues through to this year’s event in Birmingham and beyond.
In honour of this fitting partnership, Longines has crafted a special edition HydroConquest. Like its iconic brethren, the watch employs the kind of sturdy construction that can withstand the high demands of deep divers and modern athletes alike. Water-resistant to 300 metres, it features sporty lines, a unidirectional rotating bezel, a screw-down crown and case back, and a double security folding steel clasp with an integrated diving extension piece.
Where the HydroConquest XXII Commonwealth Games breaks out from the pack is through the use of unique colour, subtle detail, and dedicated mechanics. It boldly displays the event logo colours against the black backdrop of the ceramic bezel, and then again on the minute track of its black sunray dial. Under the skin of its 41mm steel case is an exclusive self-winding movement with a silicon balance spring for improved precision and endurance. The Birmingham 2022 logo and a limited-edition number are engraved upon the case back, driving home the exclusive vibe.

With their new HydroConquest, Longines manages to dial up the performance metrics on an already accomplished range. Thanks to the new movement, the brand was able to back this latest edition with a 5-year warranty. Meanwhile, the distinct colours inject the perfect amount of visual distinction without going overboard. This is first and foremost a HydroConquest, complete with modern lines and a minimalist interface.
That said, Longines definitely took the task to heart. It’s no coincidence that the HydroConquest XXII Commonwealth Games is limited to just 2,022 pieces.
