Coastal Stone Whisky
Recently introduced by Manly Spirits Co., the Coastal Stone Whisky family draws direct inspiration from the maritime essence and raw elements of Australia’s iconic coastline. Every expression that falls under this banner was crafted by way of premium ingredients and expert skill, going from grain to glass with zero shortcuts. Let’s take a closer look at some of the label’s newest offerings.

Nor’easter Single Malt
This brand new release takes the form of a classic single malt and goes by the name of Coastal Stone Whisky: Nor’easter. An incredible gift for yourself or others, it opens with an enticing nose of stone fruit (white peach, apricot, nectarine), golden apple, Asian pears, spring flowers, rich chocolate, and hints of vanilla and honey. The body is light to medium in texture and bursting with creamy notes of nutty chocolate, which segue into dried stone fruit, subtle oak tannins, apple custard, pear, and panna cotta. Spice kicks in on the finish and leaves a long trail of elegant flavour in its wake.
Why the name Nor’easter? Because this signature expression was inspired by the prevailing summer breeze that hits the coast of Sydney, creating the ideal climate for whisky maturation. It will be released by Manly Spirits under the Coastal Stone Whisky label on an annual basis, with each year producing a new ‘vintage.’ The inaugural edition culls from the respective worlds of wine and whisky by maturing in a combination of former red wine casks from the Barossa Valley and American/French oak barrels. It’s presented in a truly unique 500ml bottle, made from bespoke glass and local Sydney sandstone with the world’s first sandstone stopper, hand-cut locally. In fact, the bottle’s distinctive, award-winning design recently won the 2022 Best Bottle Design Award at the World Whisky Awards; Gold San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Coastal Stone Nor’easter is available for $99 from selected Vintage Cellars, First Choice Liquor, and Dan Murphy’s, as well as independent retailers.
