IKEA Just Released Its Iconic Swedish Meatballs Recipe and Yes, It Includes Cream Sauce

Everyone knows the best part about going to IKEA is finishing your winding journey through makeshift kitchens and living rooms with a good old plate of Swedish meatballs. In fact, the team at Man of Many has been known to travel all the way to the discount furniture giant’s showrooms purely for the purpose of getting our meatball fix. But now, through some divine intervention, we no longer need to leave our homes to score that sweet Swedish grub. In an announcement earlier this week, IKEA released its iconic Swedish meatball recipe online, and yes, it does include the accompanying cream sauce.

IKEA Meatballs Recipe

It turns out the tasty treat isn’t all the difficult to produce. All you need for the IKEA Swedish meatball recipe is;

  • 500g beef mince
  • 250g pork mince
  • 1 onion
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 100g of breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 5 tablespoons of milk
  • Salt
  • Pepper

The cream sauce involves a few extra ingredients, but it isn’t a complex method at all. IKEA’s Country Food Manager, Lorena Lourido, says: “We know that some people might be missing our meatballs, which is why we’ve released an at-home alternative which, using easily accessible ingredients, will help those looking for some inspiration in the kitchen.”

We can’t wait to give this IKEA Swedish meatball recipe the old college try, now all we need is that weird European cafeteria tray system they’ve got going on. Do you think the $1 hot dogs are still on?
