‘It Isn’t Fair’: KFC’s ‘Shannon Noll Roll’ is a Stadium Exclusive

There’s nothing better than rocking up to the Colonel for a Zinger box after a big Friday night footy-watching sesh and sending it with a whole slab of Bam Bam Tuivasas. Chomping down on those 11 secret herbs and spices is like seeing Reg Reagan bringing back the biff in a showdown at the Barry Hall Hall, with commentary by Beau Knows. But if you thought it couldn’t get any better than this, tell ’em they’re dreaming because KFC has teamed up with Aussie legend Shannon ~~Noll~~ Roll to create the ultimate footy experience for the 2023 NRL and AFL seasons.

What: KFC’s Hot & Crispy Boneless, chilli relish, cheese, lettuce, Supercharged Sauce on a KFC Dinner Roll.
Where: Kayo Stadium in Redcliffe.
When: Saturday, March 11th, before rolling out at NRL and AFL games throughout the season.
Price: $FREE

KFC has also cooked up a brand new menu item in honour of the man himself, the ‘Shannon Dinner Noll Roll. This beauty is a bite-sized version of KFC’s Hot & Crispy Boneless chicken, served on their famous dinner roll with chilli relish, cheese, lettuce, and KFC’s Supercharged Sauce. It’s fair dinkum finger-licking good! The only catch? It’s not on the menu.

If you’re keen to give it a red hot go, head on over to Kayo Stadium in Redcliffe on Saturday, 11 March, to watch the Dolphin’s first home game as they debut in the NRL and enjoy a FREE sample of the ‘Shannon Dinner ~~Noll~~ Roll’. Loves a free lunch!

For everyone else, keep an eye out for it at various NRL and AFL games throughout the season. Though, you’d be better off following your nose with how good their chicken smells. And while you’re at it, shake your tailfeather to ‘Fried Night Footy’ in the background – more on that below.

Sally Spriggs, CMO of KFC Australia, is chuffed to continue their partnership with the NRL and AFL and introduce the new anthem and menu item. Shannon Noll is also stoked to be a part of it all, saying the anthem is a definite earworm and the Shannon Dinner Roll is a dream come true.

“I’m super happy to be working with KFC and DZ Deathrays on this anthem. It’s a definite earworm, and you’re gonna catch yourself singing it in the shower, the car and maybe even in your sleep! Plus, working with KFC to create the Shannon Roll, talk about a dream come true.””

For those of you who can’t make it to the games, KFC will be serving up the Fried Night Footy Feast – a mouth-watering selection of their best chicken, tenders, nuggets, and popcorn chicken, complete with dipping sauces. Yummo!

Returning to the spotlight stolen by that Sebastian fellow, Nollsy has belted out what could be 2023’s ultimate earworm and footy anthem. It’s a cracking tune that takes us back to the variation of the Hoodoo Guru’s hit song What’s My Scene? Entitled That’s My Team, used by the NRL between 2003 and 2007. Perhaps, we may have finally recreated the magic. And all it took was a bit of Nollsy.

Performed by Shannon Noll and DZ Deathrays, the ‘Fried Night Footy’ anthem is a true blue ode to Friday Night Footy and KFC’s commitment to fried goodness. Plus, it’s a stellar combination of the Aussie music legend’s singing chops and Queensland’s dance-punk trio. The catchy tune will be featured in KFC’s footy advertising throughout the season, and we reckon it’ll be stuck in your head for days once it drops on KFC Australia’s Spotify on 3 March.

For now, we’ll just have to enjoy the behind-the-scenes look of Shannon Noll and DZ Deathrays teasing the soundtrack to our footy season. A soundtrack that has been extended for another five years until the end of 2027, with the NRL maintaining its partnership with the Kentuckian.
