  • The 2025 Ford Ranger Wildtrak X has been announced and will return to Australian dealers this quarter.
  • Only 750 utes will be made available in Australia, with pricing to start from AUD$77,640 plus on-road costs.
  • The new pick-up is powered by a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine delivering 150kW of power and 500Nm of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The 2025 Ford Ranger Wildtrak X will arrive in Australian dealerships later this year, Ford has confirmed. The limited-edition ute, which lands squarely in between the off-road-focused Wildtrak and the brutish Raptor, is designed to revive the same blend of power and performance that made the 2023 edition a sell-out. Don’t expect to waltz into a dealership and score one of your own, however. The automaker has revealed that only 750 models of the 2025 Ford Ranger Wildtrak X will be produced, making them a seriously hot piece of property.

First offered way back in 2003, the Wildtrak X has become a staple amongst Australia 4WD fans and the latest edition undeniably follows suit. An even more off-road-focused version of the Wildtrak Ranger, this iteration features a swag of upgrades, including Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers with remote nitrogen-filled reservoirs, increased track width (30mm wheel track increase) and even more ground clearance (26mm increase) while the exterior styling gets a more sinister look.

Cosmetically, Ford has added some subtle upgrades across the board, revitalising the stellar but not spectacular Wildtrak X design. Changes to the exterior include a front steel bash plate, new lights, a more off-road-friendly grille design and a foldable roof rack system. The LT265/70R17 General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres are wrapped around Asphalt Black machine-faced 17-inch alloy wheels which adds to the stance of the Wildtrak X.

Notably, the only option available is premium paint for $700, while the previous Cyber Orange colour has been replaced by two new options, Luxe Yellow and Blue Lightning, alongside previous optional ones Shadow Black, Meteor Grey, and Aluminium. Standard you can spec it in Arctic White.

Ford Ranger Wildtrak X Performance

The powertrain used here continues to be the tried-and-tested 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo Diesel engine with 201bhp and 500nm, which has been paried with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The increased off-road capabilities have not impacted the Wildtrak X’s towing capacity, which remains at 3,500 kg. Drive modes are also on offer, with Trail Turn Assist, Trail Control, and Rock Crawl.

“The Ranger Wildtrak X brings together a number of elements that have made the Ranger family Australia’s number one choice of new vehicle two years’ in a row,” said Mathew Slade, Ranger Pproduct & retail marketing manager, Ford Australia.

“It builds on the legendary Wildtrak nameplate, adds serious off-road chops thanks to the trick Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers, and clever everyday useability with the Flexible Rack System2 – a classic example of Aussie ingenuity!”

2025 Ford Ranger Wildtrak X Pricing in Australia and Availability

The MY25.25 Wildtrak X is slightly more expensive than the 2023 model, with a price tag of AUD$77,640 before on-road costs. That means it is around $1650 more than its 2023 predecessor. Order books have been opened, and the first deliveries will start in Q1 2025. Whether it will reach the lofty heights of the sold-out 2023 edition is anyone’s guess, but Ford appears to have nailed the mid-range market. If you ask us the Wildtrak is a more exclusive alternative to something like a Toyota Hilux GR Sport and the Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior, and that’s saying something.
