‘Beautiful’: Yellow Apple iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus Join Line-up

That’s it, that’s the release. Apple has added a yellow colour to their line-up of iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models. Most importantly, the iPhone Pro models will not receive the colour as they focus on premium gold, silver, black, and purple colours for this generation.

Pricing and specs for the new yellow iPhones remain unchanged, starting at $1399 AUD and $1579 AUD respectively. Pre-orders for fans in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, South Korea, the U.K., the U.S., and more than 60 other countries and regions begin at 12 a.m. AEDT Saturday, 11 March, with availability beginning Tuesday, 14 March.

“People love their iPhone and rely on it every day for all that they do, and now there’s an exciting addition to the lineup with a new yellow iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “The extraordinary battery life, lightweight design, pro-level camera and video features, groundbreaking safety capabilities like Emergency SOS via satellite, and all iOS 16 has to offer make iPhone 14 a great option for anyone in the market for a new iPhone.”

The new yellow iPhone comes with all the iOS 16 features that you’d expect. It starts with a customisable lock-screen and gallery, which sees the subjects of photos “artfully” set in front of the time, creating a sense of depth (see below). The look of the date and time can be changed with new fonts, while widgets can be added with upcoming calendar events, the weather, battery levels, alarms, time zones, activity ring progress and more.

In terms of construction, the same 6.1-inch (iPhone 14) and 6.7-inch (iPhone 14 Plus) sizes are featured on the yellow iPhone, made from a durable aerospace-grade aluminium design that’s water and dust-resistant. This extends to the front cover where the Ceramic Shield glass is tougher than that found on any other smartphone. Behind that glass is a Super Retina XDR display with OLED technology that supports 1200 nits of peak HDR brightness, along with support for Dolby Vision.

Cameras are where the iPhone has always excelled and this generation introduces a Photonic Engine that improves mid and low-light performance for photos; up to 2x on the TrueDepth and Ultra Wide cameras, and 2.5x on the new Main camera when compared to the previous generation. Video features that we’ve come to love, such as Action mode and Cinematic mode, are available across the iPhone 14 lineup. We recently shot this Audi RS 3 utilising the iPhone’s ‘Cinematic Mode’ and the results speak for themselves.

The Apple iPhone 14 was released in Australia on 16th September 2022. Pricing for the new yellow iPhone remains the same, with the iPhone 14 priced at $1,399 AUD and the new iPhone 14 Plus will set users back $1,579 AUD. Pricing for the entire iPhone range can be found below.

  • iPhone 14 Plus – $1,579 AUD

Pre-orders for the yellow iPhone in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, South Korea, the U.K., the U.S., and more than 60 other countries and regions begin at 12 a.m. AEDT Saturday, 11 March, with availability beginning Tuesday, 14 March.
