The actor may have reverted back to his original name, but Dwayne Johnson will always be known as The Rock. The wrestling moniker brings to mind images of hard hits and even harder workouts, so it’s fitting that Under Armour sought out the star to put to test their true wireless headphones in his Iron Paradise gym.
Under Armour describes the earbuds as being “engineered to stay in when you really start to move and give you bionic hearing so you know what’s going on around you.” To accomplish that, the ear tips feature wings to keep them secure and comfortable in your ear even while running. They also use Ambient Aware technology that keeps you connected to both your music and to your environment.
With Talk-Thru technology, the tips drop your music volume down and turn on speech-optimised and noise-cancelling mics when you’re conversing between sets. The Rock also had input into the tuning of the ear tips, providing his settings for better sound with richer bass to keep you pumped. Workouts aren’t workouts without a good sweat, which means that the ear tips need to be waterproof (UA’s Stormproof tech gets an IPX7 rating for water and sweat protection).
Marathon workouts aren’t a problem either with a five-hour battery life. The headphones even look good while charging thanks to the aluminium 20-hour charging case.
The headphones come with a carabiner clip, utility case, and three sizes of ear tips and ear tip enhancers.
