Say hello to the ‘Desperado smartphone collection,’ a brand new lineup of custom-designed iPhone 14 Pro/Max and other accessories. Caviar explained that the new lineup draws inspiration from “the subculture of Latin American street gangs,” blending deft craftsmanship with a deadly and bold design/aesthetic. The luxury smartphone designer unveiled a whole range of these stylish killer-looking iPhones embellished with gang signs, Calavera skulls, decorative blades, chains, and even pistols.
Among all the new designs, one that really stands out from the rest is the flagship model dubbed Notorious, a custom-made iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max decked with Pablo Escobar’s beloved Colt M 1911 pistol on the rear. The Notorious’ chassis is PVD-coated black aviation titanium, which the company says is used in some of the best Swiss watches.
In tune with Caviar’s luxury at its finest approach, this new Gold Gun even features engraved titanium 24 Karat Double Gold Electroplated jewellery inserts with the grip being carved from American Black Walnut. But what will turn most heads is the smartphone’s rear which comes incised with a decorative gold version of Don Pablo’s personal favourite pistol, the Colt M 1911. The Notorious has a bas-relief of a miniature Colt 1911 decorated with a carved pattern and a wood insert, that adds a realistic touch to the whole affair.
The entire decoration is a part of the phone’s body and not a separate element, which means it can’t be taken off or removed. The Colt M 1911 pistol used to be the go-to weapon for infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar and was an extremely popular choice of weapon amongst the gangs of Latin America. In a press release, Caviar says that “the infamous drug lord and terrorist Pablo Escobar did not part with his Colt until the very end and used it in his last gunfight,” giving the pistol a legendary status.
Caviar’s new Gold Gun captures the realness of the King of Cocaine’s favourite weaponry in a flashy and flamboyant way, but with only 99 of these limited edition iPhones being made they aren’t going to go cheap.
The base 128 GB iPhone 14 Pro model starts at USD$9,150 or AUD$12,900, topping out at 1 TB which will set you back USD$10,320 or AUD$14,500. On the other hand, the Pro Max variant starts at USD$9,730 with the 1 TB storage costing USD$10,900 or AUD$15,400. However, Notorious isn’t the only custom-designed iPhone in Caviar’s Desperado collection. The company also has two different custom designs on offer namely Curel and the Blade Black Edition, along with a bunch of new accessories, jewellery, and even custom Nike Airforce 1.
