The opening credits of Star Wars: A New Hope features the Tantive IV fleeing an Imperial Star Destroyer. The ship, which was carrying Princess Leia and the plans for the Empire’s Death Star battle station, was captured over the planet Tatooine, but not before Leia sent the intrepid R2-D2 to the planet’s surface in search of Obi-Wan Kenobi. If you’ve ever wanted your own “Rebel blockade runner,” then here’s your chance. LEGO recently released their interpretation of the Tantive IV.
Faithful down to the smallest details, the LEGO model features the elongated hull of the Tantive IV, as well as the elevating gun turrets and cargo hold. The tail of the ship features the Tative IV’s 11 engines. Under the removable hull plating, you’ll find a detailed cockpit that fits two mini figures. The ship also features a conference area with table, a weapon rack, and a control console with two seats.
The set comes with Bail Organa, Princess Leia, Captain Antilles, C-3PO, a Rebel Fleet Trooper, and an R2-D2 figures. When it’s time to jettison the droids and the plans, you can use one of the detachable escape pods.
The model measures an impressive 5 inches high by 24 inches long and 7 inches wide. The radar dish doubles as a carrying handle. Putting together the 1,750 pieces means that you’ll be able to seek out the Rebel’s one last hope for help.
