Emmy-award winning series Euphoria is coming back for a third season, HBO has confirmed. The Zendaya-led blockbuster drama has taken the world by storm, becoming one of the most popular shows of the past decade, with the announcement marking the reprisal of some serious star power. For Euphoria season three, fans are set to score more Rue, Jules and Elliot, plus a few new faces.

The continuation comes after 14 million viewers tuned into the show’s season two premiere, smashing expectations for the heightened high-school drama. Created by Sam Levinson, the series centres around Zendaya’s breakout character Rue, a high school student struggling with relapse and the intricacies of modern life. Throw in a troubling relationship with Hunter Schafer’s Jules and a host of extraverted, albeit challenging characters and you’ve got a recipe for prime time success.
“Sam, Zendaya, and the entire cast and crew of Euphoria have taken season two to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form, while maintaining its heart,” Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO Programming said. “We couldn’t be more honoured to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into season three.”

Since the series inception, Euphoria has caused a stir with viewers. From the audacious clothing choices, adult themes and fearlessness to addressing contentious issues such as drug abuse and sexual violence, the HBO hit pulls no punches and fans have responded. According to Variety, not only did the season two premiere blow expectations out of the water, episodes two and three tracked similarly. Those figures almost double the 6.6 million average audience size that season one episodes boasted during summer 2019, making it not only one of the biggest shows on television but also one of the fastest-growing.
Along with Emmy winner Zendaya, Euphoria season three is expected to see cast favourites Hunter Schafer, Nika King, Eric Dane, Angus Cloud, Jacob Elordi, Algee Smith and Sydney Sweeney return. Alexa Demie, Barbie Ferreira, Maude Apatow, Javon Walton, Dominic Fike, Storm Reid and Austin Abrams are all slated to reprise their roles as well.
