Splendour in the grass 2021

The announcement of the 2021 Splendour in the Grass lineup comes just weeks after the organisers opted to can the Flume-headlined event for 2020. The Aussie producer was, unfortunately, unable to commit to the 2021 festival, which will go ahead from 23-25 July 2021 at North Byron Parkland, paving the way for Gorillaz to step in.

Over the past few months, the British act has reportedly been working on the ongoing Song Machine series, with the first season to wrap up in October. The project has featured some huge names like Skepta, Peter Hook and Slaves. Released as episodic studio sessions, the Song Machine project has coincidently become the perfect soundtrack for the strange time music fans find themselves in. Through the regularly updated series, Gorillaz fans can check in with the group in an exciting new way, charting the interesting and thought-provoking collaborations currently underway.

While Tyler, The Creator and The Strokes were previously unveiled as part of the original 2020 Splendour in the Grass lineup, it’s unsure if other announced acts will return as well. The original lineup consisted of various international artists including Glass Animals, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, JPEGMAFA and Sofi Tukker, along with some big-name Australian acts such as Midnight Oil, DMA’s, Northeast Party House and Stella Donnelly.

The full 2021 lineup is expected to be released early next year. All tickets purchased for Splendour 2020 will be valid for next year, however, for those who cannot attend the 2021 Splendour in the Grass event, full refunds are available through Moshtix until Monday, 27 July.

If you don’t have a ticket, don’t stress. You might even be able to score cheap entry with Moshtix also offering  ‘pre-loved’ tickets. Check out the official Splendour in the Grass website for more information.
