Valentino Garavani’s “Rockstud” accessory line introduced dimension and architectural design to products from high heels and sneakers to wallets and chains. Garavani has recruited the help of London-based designer Craig Green to release the latest addition to the Rockstud lineup—the Rockstud X sneaker—and to celebrate the tenth anniversary of series. The shoes are available in black, light ivory, army green, or dark grey, and they firmly represent everything Rockstud. The new shoes were debuted on June 12.

The sole of the Rockstud X sneaker is the most dominant portion of the shoe and features the crucifix shape in its design. The top round features a full rockstud while bottom of the shoe features the downward-pointing triangles of the rockstud, providing an innovative traction pattern. On the lateral side near the rear quarter is a rubber band branded with “Craig Green x Valentino Garavani.”
This band wraps around the shoe’s perimeter, separating the sole from the upper. The upper is made of a finely woven mesh that offers plenty of breathability yet is still supportive to your foot. Despite the strategically placed round laces, the Rockstud X sneaker is actually a slip-on. A set of webbing loops on the tongue and heel help to get the shoe on.
From the way Valentino describes the shoe on their site, you can expect there to be more collaborations coming. Valentino describes the Craig Green project as “a first co-creation.” As the first one out of the gate, Green has created a design that will be hard to compete with. You can get a pair of the Craig Green x Rockstud x Valentino Garavani Rockstud X sneakers for $1,150 from any of the global Valentino boutiques or online on the brand’s official website.
