New Balance has done it again. This time with a futuristic in-line silhouette they’re calling the WRPD Runner. It pushes the boundaries of what a traditional lifestyle sneaker embodies while simultaneously resembling some of our favourite models from the past with premium materials, hairy suedes, and neutral tones.

It was released in the launch “Sea Salt” colourway on the 16th of August 2023 and there’s still time to cop the sneaker at newbalance.com.au and via the links below for AU$250.

With hit sneakers like the 327, RC30, and 238 under her belt, New Balance senior footwear designer Charlotte Lee cooked up the WRPD Runner to find a balancing point between performance and style.

“The WRPD Runner is a new concept driven by the unique space where style and performance meet,” she said. “The upper has a refined focus on simplicity and quality whilst the sole is a warped expression of our pinnacle running technology, FuelCell. The fluid lines of the foam are blended with the abstract nature of futuristic design, evoking a strong sense of movement.”

We’ve had the chance to get hands-on with these sneakers for the last month and can vouch for the comfort, style, and use of premium materials. The upper includes nods to iconic New Balance running design with an oval shape as a futuristic interpretation of retro running models while the midsole features soft sculpted FuelCell technology with a medial stability post and forefoot cushioning alongside an exaggerated crash pad design in the heel.

Available now at the links below for a retail price of AU$250, the WRPD Runner will continue its rollout over the next few months in a variety of colourways.
