Sneaker News #13 – Nike Unveils Air Max Day 2020 Releases and Yeezy Preps another Colourway


Sneaker News #13 is here and with it comes news of the Air Max Day 2020 releases. Nike is looking both to the future and the past to treat fans for the 33rd annual celebration of one of the brand’s hallmark lines. Meanwhile, Adidas and Yeezy are unleashing the popular 350 Boost V2 in yet another new colourway. That and more of this week’s best new cops below.

Air Max 2090

Most sneaker brands are looking to nostalgia for inspiration but for Air Max day Nike is heading to the future. The Air Max 2090 imagines not only shoe design but the world 70 years from now. Designer John Kosenick was drawn to visions of electric and solar-powered vehicles and has made a sleek, clean shoe. It’s a mostly white colourway with vibrant red and blue hues. You can cop the shoe on Air Max Day for around $200.

Air Max Duck Camo Pack

For this Air Max Day release, Nike is looking to the past by bringing back a favourite colourway. Taking inspiration from the duck camo colourway of the 2013 Air Max 90 Atmos, Nike has inverted the colour scheme for the 2020 version of the Air Max 90 Duck Camo shoe. As part of the pack, there will also be a version of the Air Max 2090 released in this colourway.

Air Max 1 ‘London’ and ‘Amsterdam’

If you’re looking to prep for Air Max Day before it even begins, Nike is dropping two new colourways of the Air Max 1 taking inspiration from London and Amsterdam. The ‘London’ shoe comes in a grey colourway referencing the stone and concrete of the city’s urban landscape while the ‘Amsterdam’ combines red and brown hues on suede, nubuck and tumbled leather. The shoes are set to drop on Nike from 19th March at 6am.

Air Jordan IV ‘95 Neon

Another week, another classic Air Jordan in a new colourway. This time, it’s the Air Jordan IV getting a grey and neon reboot. The colourway was inspired by the Air Max ‘95 with a grey gradient featuring on the shoe’s upper and neon defining the sole, eyelets, insole and tongue. The shoe gives a nod to the Nike Air by featuring the branding on the heel. It’s set to hit the Nike store on 21st March at 7am.

Yeezy 350 Boost V2 ‘Cinder’

Kanye has been giving the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 a myriad of new colourways this year and he’s keeping on with the ‘Cinder’. The dark colourway features the trademark post-dyed side-stripe running along the side of the sneaker. The gum outsole is complimented by a dark brown midsole which, of course, features Adidas’ Boost technology. Yeezy has confirmed the release for 21st March.

Adidas Copa Nationale Shoes

The Adidas Copa Nationale shoe aims to combine skate and football worlds. The football boot like-silhouette has been tampered with to make it board-ready including a TPU tip for grip and an extra-cushioned heel. Adidas is set to drop new versions of the shoe in both black and green colourways. Each features the Adidas branding on the heel and the classic three-stripe on the side. It’s set to drop 30th April.

Reebok x Awake Workout Plus

New York streetwear brand Awake has teamed up with Adidas for their first sneaker collection with the brand. The classic Workout Plus shoe is getting two new colourways dreamt up by Awake – black and white. Each feature Awake branding printed over the classic Reebok logo. As Awake founder Angelo Baque told The Hip Store, he was inspired by Visions of the Wu Tang Clan members wearing the shoe. “A lot of people don’t see that association, but I think of Raekwon, ‘Glaciers of Ice’,” he said.

Asics Gel Noosa Tri 12 x Affix

Streetwear collective Affix has teamed up with Asics, continuing the sportswear brands run of successful collaborations. Affix has centred its brand around utility and this shoe is made for the track featuring FlyteFoam and gel cushioning. It’s defined by grey, white and red blocks of colour cover a futuristic-looking silhouette. You can cop the shoe now at Up There.
