The Supreme Fall/ Winter 2021 collection is simply too massive to put into words. Instead, we’re breaking down the lineup piece by piece. Starting with the most talked-about piece from the collection and our personal favourite, the Supreme Air Force 1 in ‘Wheat’. The model takes obvious inspiration from the White and Black colourways that continue to be drip-fed into hypebeasts hands every Supreme drop. The colourway is strictly New York City, with all-over suede wheat upper that reminds fans of the most notorious shoe in the city – the Wheat Timberland boot.
We were never massive fans of the Supreme x Nike Air Force 1 collaboration and design, but this particular model holds a special place in the NYC sub-culture. While it stays true to Supreme’s vision of essentially slapping a logo onto everything there’s an element of storytelling to the design. Supreme calls NYC it’s home, and when famous New York City poet Biggie Smalls wrote “Timbs for my hooligans in Brooklyn (That’s right)” on his famous NYC anthem ‘Hypnotize’ it cemented the legacy of the Timberland ‘Wheat’ boot colour that now finds itself on the sneaker – an obvious connection, but a noteworthy one nonetheless.
Seen here in strictly low top form – as it should be – the Supreme x Nike Air Force 1 ‘Wheat’ features a smooth suede upper with tonal logo swoosh, staying as true as possible to the original design. The stand-out Supreme Red Box Logo hit on the heel is a minimalist touch for sure, but any more branding and the shoe might seem ‘over branded’ and detract from the signature aesthetic of the AF1. Additional branding can be found on the tongue tag, insoles, and lace lock.
While there is no specific release date set, expect the Supreme Air Force 1 to drop alongside the White and Black colourways in the upcoming Supreme Fall/Winter 2021 collection due August 21st.
