Chopard is takings its flagship ladies timepiece collection to the green with the Happy Sport Golf Edition. The watch comes with a bezel set with five diamonds between two sapphire crystals. The green calfskin strap evokes the fairway, and the mobile golf club and ball add a special element to the presentation. Even the crown is faceted with dimples reminiscent of a golf ball.

The Happy Diamonds concept was first introduced in 1976. Chopard designer Ronald Kurowski had the idea of recreating the prisms and sparkling reflections of a waterfall using diamonds. In 1993, Chopard creative director and co-president Caroline Scheufele used the concept in a new line of watches, thus creating the Happy Sport. Each iteration has had some sort of a theme, such as the Happy Fish which featured a gem-set fish that was free to spin between the sapphire crystals.
For the Happy Sport Golf edition, that theme is represented by the golf club and ball. The watch comes with a 36mm case, which, like the club and ball, is made of ethical gold. The gold is sourced by small-scale operations that are regulated by the Alliance for Responsible Mining. The caseback is done in a see-through sapphire crystal, which allows a look at the self-winding, mechanical movement. The front glass is glare-proof and scratch resistant.
The dial is a speckled green that does a fair imitation of the green around the hole, a look that is accomplished by using a stamped metal technique that rises the texture of the dial so that it looks like freshly mowed grass. That same texture is reflected in the strap.
You can get the Chopard Happy Sport Golf Edition either with or without the diamond bezel. Of course, the diamonds drive up the cost, to the tune of USD$19,700. Sans diamonds, you’ll be looking to pay USD$9,980.
