Heritage watchmaker Longines is drawing attention to its latest Diver collection with a series of bold new colours. The watches still sport that vintage look and feel that propelled the brand to the top of everyone’s wish list, but the new design language adds a renewed versatility that fans will appreciate even more.

Of course, good looking watches aren’t worth much if they don’t have the performance to back up those looks. The Legend Diver excels in this arena as well, starting with 300-meter water resistance. The time setting crown is located at 4:00 and the bezel rotating crown is at 2:00. Both are screw down. Smack-dab between those two crowns, at 3 o’clock, is a date window. The stainless steel case measures in at a wide 42mm with a thickness of 12.7mm, but that’s a solid reference to the original reference 7042.
The watch is also to be had in a 36mm version with an 11.9mm thickness. The sapphire is ultra-domed and has a retro acrylic look. The case back sports an engraving of a spear-holding scuba diver. To power the watch, Longines turned to the Calibre L888.5 movement, which was made especially for the watchmaker. The Legend Diver offers 72 hours for the larger watch and 45 hours for the smaller of power reserve and utilizes a silicon balance spring.
The new colours offer a striking addition to the family of watches, available in a gradient on the dial, starting with the oxblood red, which fades to black on the edges. You can also get the dial in a dark navy blue and a wheat-coloured tan fume as well as an ash grey. Each model is paired with a matching canvas fabric strap—all except for the grey version, which comes with a medium grey Fabric NATO strap. Longines has priced the new Legend Divers at USD$2,400. If you’re looking for some versatility in your wrist jewellery, the Longine Legend Divers fit the bill nicely.
