After months of anticipation, the long-awaited rooftop at QT is finally emerging from its slumber. Set to open in October 2023, the renovated rooftop venue will arrive with a reinvigorated drink program, a newly inspired menu and a rejuvenated interior design.
Overseen by long-time QT collaborator and award-winning designer, Nic Graham and alongside industry experts, Tait, the space has been revitalized with a fusion of contemporary design and artistic flare. By all accounts, the iconic rooftop venue will enter its ‘extra era’ – picture yourself dressed to the nines, a delicious cocktail in hand and panoramic news of the Melbourne cityscape. It doesn’t get much more extra than this.
The reimagined rooftop is an interior design masterpiece – with intimate alcoves featuring private booths, a private lounge (for those looking for a little more intimate) and an outdoor bar, there is something for everyone. A palette of pinks and blues creates a vibrant, moody atmosphere, while rich textures evoke opulence and luxury.
Art from local artist Dwayne Hutton can be seen throughout, creating an enchanting, electric and bespoke facade. Furnishings are contemporary and playful, while updated upholstery and modern lighting repurposing original pieces speak to QT’s sustainable ethos.
“The inspiration behind Rooftop at QT’s transformation lies in embracing the allure of rooftop culture, providing a venue for private moments and lively parties with friends you haven’t met yet,” QT Melbourne’s general manager, Kristen Foat said. “The striking art installations and elevated booths, offer a fresh perspective of the lively bar scene embodying the essence of the new design, complemented with bold twists on nostalgic cocktail favourites and our flavourful new bar menu.”
An equally electric atmosphere is met thanks to a masterful playlist from Andrew Lewis, QT’s Music Curator. Enjoy a laid-back temp during the day, with a more vibrant night-time soundtrack of vintage disco, boogie, and soul with an electronic edge.
In terms of drinks, you can expect refreshed, innovative cocktails with the likes of Son of Man with Bacardi Carta Blanca, Lillet Blanc, clarified apple and lime and basil oil) and our personal favourite and a bold new take on the Espresso Martini – the Bulleit Punch with Bulleit Rye whiskey, Mr Black coffee liqueur, orange and miso syrup, clarified cream. We have Food & Beverage director, Chris Stock to thank for these ones.
To keep up the substance and all-round good vibes, food is designed to share and has a fitting Mediterranean influence. Executive chef Nic Wood serves up some seriously unforgettable eats like a Fried Mortadella Sando with provolone, BBQ sauce and pepperoncini and a scrumptious Ice Cream Sandwich with shortbread and lemon-mascarpone ice cream.
