The Best Barber Shops in Perth

1. Soulsbys Barbers, North Perth
A modern studio with a flair for contemporary styles and cuts, Soulsbys is my top pick for barbers in Perth. The team at the quaint barbershop is led by local legend Kyle Soulsby, who formerly held the clippers at another of Perth’s best barbershops, Westons. Over the past few years, the shop has enjoyed a steadily growing fleet of customers from its home in North Perth, courtesy of its emphasis on modern design and contemporary cutting techniques.
While you will find some of the best fades in Perth coming out of this shop, Soulsbys is about much more than traditional clipper work. The Perth barbershop offers services such as hair lightening and bleaching, along with brow, ear and nose waxing for the more hirsute amongst us. I’m personally a big fan of styles that utilise the natural flow of the hair and this is an avenue where Soulsbys shines.
Cuts like brush-backs, tapers and modern mullets are par the course for this North Perth barbershop, so if this sounds up your alley, I would highly recommend the Soulsbys team. Haircuts start from around AUD$60, however, you can opt for an apprentice cut for a slightly reduced price.

2. Stanford Barbers, Leederville
Masters of the faded arts, the team at Stanford Barbers has made a name for itself through intricate cutting techniques and modern styles. From French crops and skin fades to modern slick backs, the Mount Hawthorn studio’s team has all bases covered and can gladly provide advice on styling, maintenance, and shape, along with insights into products.
Further to that, the Stanford Barbers team comprises educators and trainers, who have a wealth of knowledge across all facets of the industry. The shop currently operates an academy training program for young barbers where they learn advanced techniques on skin fades, tapers, clipper cuts, scissor cuts and razor outlining. While you might not necessarily be in the market for a new profession, going where the barbers go to learn is always a surefire way to ensure you get what you pay for.
As far as the shop goes, Stanford Barbers has elevated the traditional experience to become more like a distinguished grooming oasis for the modern man. Complimentary beer or whisky is available on arrival, making this rustic, polished, concrete-laden venue feel innately homely. Haircuts will set you back $65 for a cut and style, with restyles rising to $75.

3. Westons Barbershop & Shave Parlour, Perth
With two shops across Northbridge and Joondalup, Westons has established itself as a mainstay amongst the best barbershops in Perth. Inside the exposed brick facade, you’ll find a collection of dedicated barbers and style consultants eager to test out new techniques and push the boundaries of modern cutting. As I have written about often, I am a huge fan of blunt-fringe cuts with high skin tapers, and Westons is perhaps the best proponent of this in the country. The barbers here know how to execute a high fade without adding too much weight to the blend point and the textured cutting on top is seriously on-point.
Further to that, the wood flooring and exposed brick just make this barbershop feel like a true home away from home. They’ve even arranged the barbershop floor in a style similar to the United States, where the chairs are positioned so that every client can interact and speak with each other whilst getting a cut. It’s a simple design choice, but one that undoubtedly leads to greater social interaction and leaves you feeling like you actually engaged with a real person. Cuts at Westons are priced from $60, with a full restyle setting you back $90.
- Address: 456 William St, Perth WA 6000
- Phone: (08) 9228 2692

4. His Lid, Subiaco
Frequently touted as the ‘coolest barber shop’ in Perth, His Lid is also one of the best. The long list of services is designed to marry modern style with timeless luxury, giving you an almost spa-like treatment without the associated nonsense. Here, you can slink into a black leather chair and sip on Scotch whisky while getting a premium cut and shave from one of the best barbers in Perth, followed by the hot towel treatment.
In terms of style, I would recommend His Lid for more contemporary tastes as the team is highly adept at modern mullets, skin fades and French crops. These cuts combine traditional hairdressing techniques with clipper work, focusing mainly on growth patterns and natural graduation. If you are a fan of something edgy or you are just looking to break out of the norm, His Lid is a great option for a restyle.
Additionally, the Perth barbershop offers a seriously impressive wedding package for anyone who is gearing up for their big day. With this option, you can book the His Lid studio for you and your groomsmen to relax and get ready for the big day in style. Haircuts at His Lid are priced from $55, with skin fades rising to $60.

5. Bloodhound Barbers, Subiaco
From the outside, Bloodhound Barbers may seem like a homage to a bygone era, but beneath the surface, you’ll find something truly enticing. Inside the whitewashed walls of the Hay St studio, which have been intricately adorned with vibrant turquoise highlights and some incredible hand-painted gold-leaf signage, you’ll find antique Belmont barber chairs and mid-century lounges. Visually, it feels like you are stepping back in time, but once you are in the chair, everything changes once more.
The team of dedicated barbers blurs the lines between modern and traditional barbering, providing a diverse range of styles and cuts to suit all needs. From razor-fade slick backs and pompadour to brush-back styles and asymmetrical shapes, Bloodhound has a little something for everyone. Better yet, all customers cop a free drink on arrival, and depending on the barber of choice, prices start from as little as $40 per cut.
- Address: 204 Hay St, Subiaco WA 6008
- Phone: 0452 505 836

6. Create Studio One, East Perth
If tapers and fades are your flavour, East Perth barbershop Create One Studio has you covered. Inside the pristine white walls, you’ll find a contemporary minimalist studio adorned with a monochromatic colour scheme and light-tiled floors, not to mention, some of the best barbers in the city. The business definitely caters to a younger audience, with a team of barbers adept at blunt fringe cuts, skin fades, wolf cuts and pretty much anything you have seen on TikTok. Bookings are preferred, but you can snag a walk-in on occasion.
Best of all, every client receives a complimentary beverage on arrival, so you can relax and enjoy the experience in complete serenity. Price-wise, Create Studio One is on par with many of the barbers on this list, with an average haircut setting you back around $60.

7. Gentlemen’s Hair Lounge, Subiaco
In contrast to many of the other venues on this list, Gentlemen’s Hair Lounge takes a bit more of a traditional approach to the classic men’s salon. Complete with red leather Chesterfield couches, wood panelling and four chairs, both the Subiaco and Joondalup barbershops feel like a welcomed escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. When you make a booking or walk in, the team will offer up a complimentary beer, whisky or soft drink, slip a magazine into your hand and take you on a relaxing and soothing style journey.
More than just a straightforward aesthetic, the old-school atmosphere does feel authentic to the barbershop experience, especially when paired with traditional services such as hot towel shaves. Here, the smell of bay rum is strong, and the vibes are high, with the four-strong team of stylists specialising in sharp and classic styles like side-parts, slick backs and scissor cuts.
What separates Gentlemen’s Hair Lounge from other barbershops in Perth is the services list, which includes a range of exclusive packages. For example, the V.I.P. Victor service includes a haircut and wash, neck and face shave, massage, moisturiser and hot peppermint towel facial wrap, offering the full experience. Packages like this go all the way up to $160, however, for the everyday option, a standard haircut at Gentlemen’s Hair Lounge is priced at $45.

8. Patron Barber, Perth
An upscale modern salon with a luxurious vibe, Patron Barber is definitely tailored to the style-conscious man. The Perth CBD barbershop features towering mirrors, golden signage and more reflective tiles than you could poke a stick at, making for a seriously indulgent experience. What separates Patron from other shops in the area is the long list services and added extras, which includes an ‘Exclusive After-Hours Grooming Service’ for clients who aren’t able to make it during work hours.
With this service, you can cop private access to the shop, flexible scheduling, and an uninterrupted grooming experience. This service is available by appointment only and comes with additional after-hours prices, however, if you are after convenience, this might be the option for you.
In terms of styles, Patron Barbers specialise in skin fades and beard treatments with a detailed emphasis on hot towel shaves and lineups. A normal haircut will set you back $50, however, the more inclusive packages can go up to around $120, depending on what you are after.

9. The Dapper Scoundrel, Perth
A top Perth barber shop with an excellent name, The Dapper Scoundrel is the brainchild of Irish barber Conor Fullard, a 20-year veteran of the men’s hairdressing industry. After honing his skills in both Dublin and London, the cutter made his way Down Under to start the business, which has grown exponentially since 2014. Now with two stores, in Mt Lawley and Perth CBD, The Dapper Scoundrel is one of the busiest and most recognisable barbershops in the city.
The traditional shop specialises in fades and beard trims, focusing on versatile styles that range from classic slicked backs to modern, edgy, faded crops. Like many shops on the list, The Dapper Scoundrel offers a complimentary beer with every cut, which is all part of Fullard’s mission to make men’s grooming an enjoyable experience.
“Generally, men don’t get too excited about haircuts, to some it’s more of a chore,” He wrote on his website. “We are changing the routine a little by making it an easy and enjoyable experience via online bookings and a couple of nice touches including a neck shave and hot towel finish.”
Haircuts at The Dapper Scoundrel are priced from $50, however, there are concession prices available for students and seniors at the Mt Lawley shop on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Bookings are preferred, so get in and enjoy a precision cut from one of the best in the business.

Google confirms the shop as open and operating at that address, and it has already picked up genuine search interest of its own: Perth readers are actively looking for “Essential Barbers & Co reviews”, a sign the shop is building a local following even without a long online history. Worth keeping an eye on as it settles into the neighbourhood.

Things to Consider for Perth Barbershops

The Western Australia capital is home to a number of the nation’s best cutters, but knowing what to look for is critical in ensuring you make the right decision. Here is what to consider when it comes to the best barbershops in Perth.
- Complimentary Drinks A number of barbershops in Perth offer far more than just a traditional haircut. Nowadays, it is not uncommon to receive a complimentary alcoholic beverage with your service or even a neck shave to complete the service. Venues such as Stanford Barbers and The Dapper Scoundrel offer a free beer with every cut, so if you are looking for a more relaxed and homely experience, this might be worth considering.
- Opening Hours Getting in for a haircut during work hours is never easy. Thankfully, some Perth barbershops have flexible hours and offer after-work options for the busy man. His Lid, Stanford Barbers, and Westons Barbershop & Shave Parlour are open until 8PM on certain days of the week, while Patron Barbers offers a complete After-Hours Package.

In fact, if you ask me, Perth barbershops are among the country’s best, with mainstays like Soulsbys in the city’s north and Suave For Men in the west helping to lead a new wave of styles and cuts. In the CBD, you’ll find no shortage of quality barbershops and studios, dishing up fresh fades, trims and grooming services.

How We Chose This List of Perth Barbershops
This list comes from a mix of first-hand visits, reader feedback and ongoing research. Visiting a shop in person is how we form our own view of a barber’s work, while reader comments tell us which local favourites we might be missing or when something’s changed.
We also check each venue’s own website or socials for current hours, pricing and services before publishing. Not every one of the 18 shops here has been personally tested by our team, so this list reflects the best evidence we had at the time of writing.

As a qualified hairdresser and barber with an SHB30516 Certificate III in Barbering from The Queensland Hairdressing Academy, Nick Hall is an expert on men’s haircuts and styles. Prior to joining Man of Many as Editor-in-Chief, he spent five years as a senior stylist at Brisbane salon The Chopspot and two years at Sydney-based barbershop Kings Domain. The men’s hairstyle expert has personally chosen the barbershops on this list, providing extensive first-hand details and insights related to each style.

Sometimes, though it depends on the shop. The Fade Doctor and Create Studio One both accept walk-ins, but say bookings are preferred. Most of the other 16 shops on this list recommend booking ahead rather than turning up on spec.
