It sure resembles the type of lamp you’d see lighting up a remote cabin in a western, yet what you’re actually looking at is a Sony Glass Speaker which uses its innovative design to produce stunning sound quality.
LSPX-S2 is a charming, portable home speaker that produces 360-degree sound along with a candlelight mode to create a cosy, romantic atmosphere. The small, compact body makes it easy to move the speaker from room-to-room and the 8 hours of battery life means you won’t always be chasing that power outlet. LSPX-S2 launches July 2019 for AUD$799.
This minimalistic speaker uses Sony’s Advanced Vertical Drive Technology paired with the actuator underneath to send vibrations through the organic glass body and spread sound vertically over 360-degrees. The organic glass tube tweeter has a broader surface than conventional speakers to create crystal clear sound with minimal loss of volume. Additionally, the speaker is Hi-Res Audio compatible, which aims to play music the way the artist intended.
The Sony Glass Sound Speaker connects wireless via Bluetooth and NFC with the single button offering “push and play” for Spotify Connect. The speaker can also connect with up to 10 other Sony audio devices over WiFi for a multi-room experience.
While effortless and refined, the glass speaker would look out of place pumping Metallica or Parkway Drive. So maybe stick to acoustic.
