‘There Will Be More’: ‘The Boys’ Showrunner Issues Cryptic Season 4 Update

It’s not the end of the line for our emotionally unhinged and rather toxic group of supes, according to The Boys showrunner, Eric Kripke, who recently confirmed that the upcoming fourth season of the smash hit TV series won’t be the last. While Kripke didn’t delve into details, he cryptically assured fans that the series would go on after its fourth season.

Putting all speculations and trepidations to rest, Kripke told fans on Twitter that he is currently busy wrapping up the season four finale, which, he says, won’t be “the series finale” as there’s more to come. “Cause you’re asking! We’ve been shooting since late August. I’m here to prep & direct the Season 4 finale. No, not the series finale, there will be more. Most importantly, S4 premieres… at some point in the future in our discernible reality,” Kripke wrote on Twitter.

While the showrunner’s tweet all but confirms season five, no official renewal announcement concerning the next instalment of The Boys has been made by either Kripke or Amazon Prime Video. In his tweet, Kripke remained very secretive about the release date for Season 4, though it’s likely to air sometime later this year. However, Kripke teased The Boys season four premiere date as “some point in the future of discernible reality”, which could mean that the next season might not arrive until 2024.

In one of his earlier tweets, Kripke shared an image revealing the title for the final episode of season four: “Assassination Run”. The episode was written by Jessica Chou and David Reed with Kripke directing the episode himself.

Season three of The Boys ended in quite an unexpected fashion, with Soldier Boy getting his ass kicked and put back on ice. Homelander is alive and breathing and is now with his son Ryan. Billy Butcher received a rather depressing diagnosis that said he only had somewhere around 12 to 18 months to live due to him jacking up on temporary Compound V.

He later reunites with the rest of the gang, who are ready to take the fight to Homelander and the other remaining supes and end it all for good. With an all-out war now looking almost inevitable, we expect The Boys season four to be yet another outlandish and crazy season packed with action, drama, death and destruction.
