Runners rejoice! Perennial eyewear favourite Oakley has teamed up with Satisfy to breathe a fresh gust of innovation into the world of running equipment. Forget your typical hype drop; this is gear for the brave new world, which judging by the official campaign images, may well be Helion Prime from The Chronicles of Riddick.
Together, the brands have cooked up a two-part series of sunglasses and apparel that make a firm promise: to reshape the face of running. Oakley, the demigod of product design and innovation, is teaming up with Satisfy, the essentialists who believe running apparel is worthy of luxury craftsmanship. Their joint venture is built on the shared belief that the running experience deserves a transcendent high, a state of consciousness ripe for introspection and creativity.
According to Brice Partouche, Satisfy’s founder and creative director, both brands are here to mess with your perceptions and alter how you view running gear. “We develop technical products through strong narratives…This collab was all about channelling the energy around Oakley’s heritage and adding our layer of running performance through lightweight, premium materials and technical construction.”
The first of these running gear masterpieces features a reimagined Oakley Re:SubZero. Coming in two colourways, these glasses are as light as a feather. We’re talking a mere 24 grams. You’ll likely forget you’re even wearing them as you clock your miles.
The matte dusty rose frame colour of one design is an ode to the dawn, to the anticipation of a new day of running. It’s like the warm sun reflecting on the sand waves of a deserted beach, the Prizm Dark Golf lens adding an unexpected twist. There’s also a matte black frame option that’ll have you slicing through the nonsense like a hot knife through butter, complete with a Prizm Black lens for improved visibility.
The second part of this remarkable series drops on June 23, featuring sunglasses and apparel designed to redefine your running experience. Taking inspiration from the ’90s era of eyewear and a quest for redefining garments that enhance the human experience, the Oakley x Satisfy Eye Jacket is a nod to the disruptive nature of runners. Its matte transparent brown frame effortlessly blends with nature’s hues, while the multiple pairs of lenses – including Prizm Tungsten, Black and Low Light – escalate this high-wrap sports performance frame to an exceptional optical tool.
But they didn’t just stop at eyewear. The Oakley x Satisfy collaboration introduces a range of high-performance apparel. From the PeaceShell Sun Hat that’s all about sun protection and quick drying to the MothTech T-Shirt offering ventilation and moisture-wicking capabilities, and the Auralite Base Layer designed for ultimate comfort with underarm light panels, they’ve got you covered. The Justice Cargo Half Tight is a running gear marvel with cargo pockets, mesh venting, and a reinforced construction that promises durability and breathability.
“The creativity from the product and the communication are very aligned with the spirit of the past, present, and future of Oakley,” says Brian Takumi, VP of brand soul at Oakley. So, here’s your chance to be a part of that spirit.
Mark your calendars, mates. Drop 1 landed on May 25. As running culture continues to grow globally, this collaborative effort between Oakley and Satisfy is truly going the extra mile. The collection will be available at select Oakley stores, satisfyrunning.com, oakley.com, and Melbourne’s Up There store.
Let’s redefine what it means to be a runner, shall we? After all, every detail matters in pursuing the ultimate runner’s high. So, gear up and let’s hit the ground running!
