In deadstock condition, these are perhaps one of the rarest Air Jordan kicks in existence. They were specifically made for MJ to wear in the 1996 original Space Jam film, with only a handful of pairs in private collections. Never worn, they come in Michael’s Air Jordan 11 size, 13, and feature his autograph on the toe.
“This pair is truly a grail for many sneaker collectors worldwide. It’s coded as a ‘Player Sample’ which means it was cut with Mr. Jordan in mind and to his specifications. However, this pair has been kept in absolutely perfect condition to this day,” said Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s Head of Streetwear and Modern Collectables. “We’re excited to drop them the same week as the release of Space Jam: A New Legacy, and celebrate the legacy of two of the greatest athletes in history of the NBA: LeBron James and Michael Jordan.”
Debuting the Jordan 11 style during the 1995-1996 NBA Playoffs and Finals, the season would prove iconic for MJ. The shooting guard won his fourth NBA MVP title (leading the Bulls to a then record 72 wins) as well as an additional NBA Finals MVP title following the Bulls defeat of the Seattle Supersonics in the Finals.

Considering the price tag, billionaire Michael Jordan may be the only person wealthy enough to afford these sneakers on the final day of the auction (July 26). However, if you’re keen to place to place a bid or simply stare in awe, you can head over to the Sotheby’s website for a peek.
