Audible Celebrates 10 Years Down Under
Audiobook and podcast platform Audible is celebrating a decade Down Under and the party is just getting started. Over the past 10 years, the organisation’s catalogue has enjoyed double-digit growth each year and now includes more than 800,000 audiobooks, podcasts and Audible Originals, many of which have an Aussie flair.
Ben Rolleston, Audible Australia’s country manager, said a big part of that growth comes through the organisation’s commitment to working with leading local publishers, authors and voice actors. Globally, Audible users listened to more than 4.6 billion hours of content in 2023.
“It’s been incredible to witness the growth in demand for premium audio storytelling in Australia, as consumers increasingly look for ways to integrate entertainment and education into their daily lives,” Rolleston said. “We’re proud to be the pioneer and innovator in this space and are passionate about continuing to explore what’s possible in audio entertainment.”
To celebrate a decade of listening, Audible’s Editors have curated the best 100 era-defining listens of the past 10 years, including Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty, The Barefoot Investor by Scott Pape, and It Burns by Marc Fennell. Audible Premium Plus members are invited to shop the 10th Birthday Sale featuring select top listens from the last decade from $4.99, while new members can take advantage of Audible’s 30-day free trial and join in the celebrations.
Adopt a Coral & Join the Movement to Restore Ocean Reefs with Coral Gardeners
Over the past few years, we’ve been inundated with reports detailing the tragic decline of our precious coral ecosystem. Coral bleaching and other environmental factors have thrown our much-loved reef into jeopardy, but a dedicated team of professionals is working to mitigate the risk, and they go by the name Coral Gardeners.
An organisation that is on a mission to revolutionise ocean conservation, Coral Gardeners aims to create a global movement to save the world’s coral reefs through active reef restoration. As part of their efforts, the entity has developed a new program that allows you to ‘adopt’ a growing coral or, better yet, gift one to a loved one. Through the program, anyone can adopt a coral, which the Coral Gardeners’ team will grow in a dedicated nursery for over a year before planting it onto the reef to help restore vibrant ocean habitats.
According to Coral Gardeners, after adopting, participants receive a digital coral card as a token of their support. They can even personalise it with a name—creating a meaningful connection to their adopted coral. From there, they have access to an AI-powered dashboard that delivers personalised news and updates on their coral’s growth journey and contributions to reef revival. If you want to get involved in the program, adopt a coral or purchase an ethical gifting alternative that gives back to the planet, visit the link below and spread the love.
Tinder Announces National Verified QT Drive to Enhance Safety
Online dating platform Tinder has launched a new safety initiative aimed at enhancing user experience and authenticity. The latest ‘Verified QT’ drive encourages Australians to utilise the ID + Photo Verification feature within the app, providing more transparency and increasing online safety for users.
Teaming up with Wesnet, the National Peak Body for specialist domestic and family violence services, Tinder has pledged $1 for every new verified profile created between 12 November and 6 December, up to a total of $20,000 to the NGO. The funds will be used to support survivors of gender-based violence, especially those experiencing domestic and family violence.
Best of all, Tinder is bringing the Verified QT drive to life with an exclusive pop-up event at Bondi Beach in Sydney on Friday 29 November between 10:00AM – 2:00PM. Tinder users who register to be a Verified QT can get their profile photos captured by renowned photographer Cybele Malinowski, known for her work with stars like Jason Mamoa, Florence Welch and Troye Sivan, and to nab a profile session with Tinder’s local dating expert Sera Bozza.
“With a relationship formed every three seconds on Tinder, we understand the importance of authenticity,” Tinder communications director in Australia, Kristy Dunn said. “What better way to put your authentic self forward than by having a fully verified profile, complete with that blue tick! We’re proud to announce this Verified QT campaign in Australia in partnership with Wesnet.”
The Verified QT campaign continues the dating platform’s industry-leading efforts to ensure user safety by promoting respectful dating practices. The Tinder Verified QT activation will take place at the Clubhouse Forecourt at North Bondi Surf Club from 10:00AM – 2:00PM Friday 29 November 2024.
