Monday Munchies: October 31 – It’s Cluckin’ Back

Welcome back to another edition of Monday Munchies. We’re wrapping up the month of October with some of our favourite food news and events, including a legend’s return in the fried chicken space, a month-long American Thanks Giving food extravaganza and a few food events that are sure to kick off your November in style. Mezcal masterclass anyone? Let’s get right into it then.

KFC is Bringing Back Hot and Crispy Boneless

Crispy cravers and heat fiends rejoice because KFC is officially bringing our favourite Hot & Crispy Boneless for a limited time nationwide from the 1st of November 2022. You’ll have hunger flashbacks as you remember the crunch of the crispy golden coating loaded with a bold spicy kick. We reckon these succulent, boneless bites are asking to be hoovered down.

First debuting in 2021, fans have been bugging the Colonel for yonks and he’s happy to announce that on top of being available nationally until Monday 28 November, these bad boys are taking up permanent residence on KFC menus in NSW, VIC, TAS and SA!

Available at KFC restaurants nationwide and for delivery via the KFC App (link below), Hot & Crispy Boneless can be picked up as a three-piece snack or as part of the New Zinger Box, which includes a Zinger Burger, two pieces of Hot & Crispy Boneless, Potato & Gravy, chips and a drink.

If you have a thirst for the creative and artisanal, then St Alma and Mextrade’s five-course degustation is where you want to be on November 17th. Designed to capture the essence of a coastal Mexican diner, Sea & Smoke will be an energetic degustation with hand-sourced spirits and house-made hot sauce (you’ve been warned).

Sit back and enjoy a sensory overload as Mextrade’s Founder Luis Vieyra and Alama Group’s Head Chef Maximo Martinez, take you on a journey through Mexico. You can expect to find a menu full of flavour, history, and chilli. A balance of spicy-sweet-earthy-crunchy contrasts the spirit flight to take you on a journey. Scallops ceviche, banana prawn a la diabla with burnt habanero aioli, charred lemon and Carnitas en salsa verde with confetti. Travel through rural towns and traditional coastal villages to discover the rich culture and heritage of the tequila and mezcal you’ll be tasting.

Three Venues Bringing Thanksgiving to Sydney

Three leading American-inspired venues have teamed up to bring Thanksgiving to Sydney this November, by launching Thanksgiving Month. While our readers stateside could appreciate a good ol’ pecan pie to mark the occasion finding anything of the sort can be hard Downunder. Thankfully, this series of events will feature an extensive range of food and drink offerings that will put a spin on classic holiday favourites such as Thanksgiving Pie Cocktails, Snickerdoodle Desserts and will be the only place in Sydney where you can feast on a whole roast Turkey.

This month-long series of Thanksgiving-themed experiences are New Orleans-inspired NOLA Smokehouse and Bar, underground cocktail bar The Swinging Cat and the recently opened Nashville-inspired whiskey and country music bar, Jolene’s. Not only will the venues have exclusive cocktail and food menus available to satisfy your every American craving, but there will also be a number of local bands and special guest artists performing live throughout the month.

Hismile x Gelato Messina Treat Truck Arrives

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Aussie favourite Hismile recently launched five fruity and delicious toothpaste through their new Hi by Hismile range. They’ve taken over our bathroom and others nationwide, and in their latest activation, Hismile is partnering with Gelato Messina on a fun, consumer-facing pop-up activation to taste this addictive new product.

On Saturday 6th November Hismile and Messina will be serving free limited edition ice cream flavours inspired by the new toothpaste range down at the iconic Bondi Beach. Flavours include Watermelon, Mango Sorbet, Peach Ice Tea (our favourite) and Coconut Whip. As if free ice cream and your new favourite toothpaste weren’t enough, product giveaways and competitions will be available including a chance to win a year’s supply of unlimited Hismile products and VIP dental consultation and whitening treatment.

The activation will be hosted by media personality and podcaster Flex Mami and take place from 11-4 pm.
