This WD-40-inspired Cologne will Get Your Motor Running

Corporate types may have fancy suits and air-conditioned offices, but deep down they’re just a bunch of blue-collar wannabes. They may pretend to love excel spreadsheets and zoom meetings, but what they really long for is getting their hands dirty and smelling like a construction site. Enter WD-40 cologne – now they can finally live out their grease monkey dreams without ever leaving the cubicle.

The latest release from Brooklyn-based art collective MSCHF is a fragrance that captures the distinct aroma of WD-40 in a bottle. Dubbed Smells Like WD-40, the cologne comes in a sleek bottle designed to resemble an upscale version of the classic multi-use spray, complete with a red cap and a blue-brushed metal finish. This lube-inspired cologne retails for US$48 plus shipping.

The concept behind the cologne is to make you smell like a mechanic who has just finished working on a bike chain without the need to get your hands dirty. With taglines such as “Smells Like The Real Thing” and “Eau de Industrie”, this unique fragrance is sure to appeal to those who want to stand out from the crowd and reassure everyone they can fix a flat tyre all by themselves!

This is not the first time MSCHF has released an irreverent product. Just last month, the collective created The Big Fruit Loop, a giant cereal loop that pays homage to the iconic Kellogg’s cereal, complete with a nod to its blue toucan mascot and the tagline, “Part of an extremely unbalanced breakfast.” MSCHF continues to push the boundaries with their creative and often controversial offerings.

MSCHF has a history of creating viral products, their past releases include Jesus Shoes filled with holy water and Satan Shoes filled with red ink, a Netflix and Chill candle, and a Bible of Bees made from the pages of an actual Bible. Regardless of one’s opinion on the scent or the company behind it, MSCHF has a reputation for creating buzz and sparking conversation with their products, and the limited edition run of 200 fragrance bottles is expected to sell out quickly, making it a must-have for collectors and fans of the brand.
