Apple has officially entered the smart home display market with the introduction of the Apple HomeView. Priced at AUD$449 in Australia, pre-orders open today, with official retail availability beginning on Friday, November 13, 2026. Designed to serve as a central management hub, the device combines a 7-inch Liquid Retina display with the brand’s new Siri AI and Apple Intelligence architecture to bring entertainment, hands-free automation, and smart home control into one place. Due to regulatory restrictions on Siri AI, HomeView will not be available in the European Union at launch.

The HomeView positions Apple in direct competition with established household hubs like the Google Nest Hub (AUD$149) and the Amazon Echo Show 11 (AUD$499). Where Google relies heavily on Assistant and Amazon uses Alexa, Apple is leveraging its proprietary A18 chip and Secure Exclaves to ensure all facial recognition and microphone data remain compartmentalised and completely private. However, the catch is that the HomeView requires an iPhone or iPad running iOS 27.2 or iPadOS 27.2 for setup.

HomeView introduces advanced facial recognition via a 12MP camera with an f/2.4 aperture that identifies up to six individuals and automatically adapts the on-screen widgets, calendars, and messages to the specific user viewing the screen. The brand has also completely overhauled its acoustic hardware for this release, integrating two custom full-range drivers and a down-firing woofer into the base to support Spatial Audio, as well as new ecosystem integrations, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6 connectivity, and environmentally friendly materials.

Design and Interface

The HomeView features an aluminium enclosure connected to a domed speaker base via a stainless steel hinge. This hinge provides a smooth tilt mechanism for tabletop viewing at a range of different heights. The 7-inch Liquid Retina display adopts a watch-like square form factor with a resolution of 1,088 by 1,088 pixels at 220 ppi. It includes adaptive True Tone technology, with automatic brightness adjusting from a peak of 500 nits down to 0.3 nits for nightstand use.

Apple is offering the tabletop version in silver, starlight, rose pink, and space grey. A separate wall-mounted configuration is also available in silver and space grey.

There’s a separate wall-mounted configuration also available in silver and space grey. However, this wall-mounted model omits the down-firing woofer and passive radiators, relying solely on two full-range drivers for audio.

You can customise the display with specific interface faces, including a Photos face that uses Portrait-style depth effects, an interactive Flow face that responds to movement, and an animated Snoopy face that reacts to the time of day, weather, and sporting events.

Siri AI and Ecosystem Integration

Powered by the A18 chip, the HomeView utilises Siri AI to process conversational requests and draw upon a user’s personal context. When paired with an Apple Intelligence compatible iPhone or iPad, the system securely surfaces relevant data from messages, calendars, and apps. The HomeView also comes pre-loaded with native applications, including Alarms, Calendar, FaceTime, Find My, Home, Intercom, Messages, Music, Podcasts, Reminders, Safari, Settings, Timers, Weather, and World Clock.

Ecosystem features include Handoff, which lets you transfer music directly from an iPhone to the HomeView, and Intercom, which lets users broadcast audio messages to other Apple devices throughout the house. In the kitchen, the display can convert web recipes into step-by-step instructions with hands-free timers and ingredient tracking.

“Apple HomeView is designed to be shared by everyone in the home yet feel completely personal to each user,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “It recognises your face to shift from a household screen to your own experience, fills the room with incredible sound, keeps you connected to the people who matter most with FaceTime, and makes it easy to control your smart home. And it’s powered by Apple Intelligence with Siri AI at its core, drawing on personal context from your iPhone to help you find what you need and get more done, all while keeping everyone’s information private and secure”.

Smart Home Controls and the Apple Home Collection

The interface includes a Home Modular face for quick accessory management and a Home Camera face that can livestream up to 9 video feeds simultaneously.

Offering added household security, the HomeView detects smoke or carbon monoxide, alarms, and sends alerts directly to connected Apple devices.

With a supported iCloud+ subscription, the HomeView can also lean on its end-to-end encrypted recognition to identify familiar faces, pets, and packages from compatible cameras, while generating AI video descriptions of recorded footage.

Next to the new HomeView, Apple announced the Apple Home Collection. Designed in collaboration with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, this new line of smart accessories includes nine distinct devices. The camera lineup features an LG Video Doorbell with dual lenses for 2.5K visitor and Full HD package monitoring, an LG Floodlight Cam, an LG Outdoor Cam, and an LG Indoor Cam. All cameras include built-in storage for 10 days of event video history out of the box.

Access is managed by the LG Smart Deadbolt Lock, which uses ultra-wideband technology to automatically unlock when a paired iPhone or Apple Watch is nearby, and includes a PIN pad and hidden key slot. Climate control is handled by LG and Schneider Home Smart Thermostats with adaptive temperature sensing, along with independent room temperature sensors.
