Audiophiles are familiar with the name Ruark Audio. The company makes some of the best music systems available. Their newest addition, the R5 High Fidelity Music System, takes Ruark’s flagship product, the R7, and scales it down “in all but sound to create a system which is simply pioneering.”
The R5 consists of a pair of 2.95-inch steer speakers with a lightweight coil and neodymium magnets. The system uses a five-inch long-throw subwoofer for added bass. The system uses a newly developed Class A-B amplifiers in a 2.1 configuration and active electronics to control the speakers for superior sound. The speakers come in either a walnut veneer or a soft gray lacquer with a gray fabric front cover. It has a front-loading CD player and a radio that supports FM, Digital Audio Broadcast, and internet radio stations (so all your music from Spotify, Amazon Music, Deezer, and Tidal can be played on the R5). For current Ruark fans—and those that soon will be—the R5 links wirelessly with the MRx, R2, Mk3, and R7 Mk3 to provide sound in multiple rooms. The R5 is Bluetooth capable and has an Ethernet port and WiFi. You can even connect the R5 to your TV for better sound as well.
Ruark doesn’t have distribution in the US yet, but the R5 is available in Japan, Australia, and the U.K.
