Sennheiser’s $4,000 Ambeo Soundbar Arrives in Australia

Following on from the original announcement in January, the bold, black Sennheiser Ambeo soundbar has finally made its way to Australian shores for four thousand dollarydoos! Essentially a new segment in the home entertainment space, Sennheiser are hoping to position the soundbar somewhere between the ultra high-end luxury surround sound home entertainment systems and the cheaper lower quality soundbars from its counterparts.

Sennheiser’s Ambeo soundbar is said to produce immersive 5.1.4 sound, standing out from the pack thanks to its wider soundstage and deep bass response all without the need of a subwoofer. Ambeo features five dedicated high-fidelity tweeters for studio-quality sound, six long-throw woofers producing 30Hz bass, and mid-range vocals are recreated with precision.

The soundbar delivers 3D sound by capturing the characteristics of your living room and reflective surfaces. Then the 13 independent drivers replicate a surround sound installation, placing you in the centre of the action.

Connectivity comes via built-in Google ChromeCast, Bluetooth and the usual HDMI, while the Sennheiser Smart Control app can be used as a remote and change settings.

Sennheiser says its Ambeo Soundbar is crafted from best-in-class materials and features a lacquered and brushed aluminium surface, so it looks every bit as premium as it sounds. The build is bulky, with Sennheiser going for that throwback look of retro box speakers.

So is Sennheiser’s Ambeo soundbar worth the hefty price tag? We’ve had a listen and we certainly think so. There is also one plus side. Your order is over $50, so Sennheiser will ship it for free.
