Ubiquitous among vloggers and videographers, Sony’s a7R and a7S cameras have earned a stellar reputation for their compact bodies, interchangeable lenses, quick speeds and brilliant resolutions. With the recently announced a7R III, Sony returns to the fold with even more power, agility and precision. Equipped with an upgraded BIONZ X processor, the 42.4 MP 35 mm full-frame camera represents an affordable and comparable alternative of the acclaimed Sony A9, making it a must-have among YouTube stars and enthusiasts alike.
Capturing images at 10fps with no shutter blackout, the Sony a7R III touts a slew of additional drool-worthy features. Among them is a 3.69-million-dot Quad-VGA OLED Tru-finder for enhanced visibility in the face of low lighting conditions. Sony has also extended the camera’s ISO range to ISO 100-32000, which can be further expanded to ISO 50-102400. That’s joined by 5-axis stabilisation and Fast Hyrbid Autofocus with 399-point focal-plane phase detection AF and 425-point contrast-detection AF.
Rounding out the Sony a7R III’s boatload of specs is the ability to shoot and record high-resolution 4K footage at 24 or 30 fps, or 1080p video at 120 fps. The camera also employs new HLG (Hybrid-Log-Gamma) picture profile to support instant HDR workflow and deliver stunning, true-to-life imagery without colour grading. Indeed, we have a feeling we’ll be updating our lists of YouTube vlogging gear any day now.
