Admittedly, you don’t have to limit yourself to just watching movies with the Sony MP-CD1 Mobile Projector, but it’s not a bad option to do so. The idea of mobile projectors has been out there for a while, but these tiny units just haven’t be able to deliver the light needed for quality projection. The Sony MP-CD1 projectors shine with a brightness of 32 ANSI lumens to 105 ANSI lumens. It’s not all good news, however. In exchange for that brightness, resolution dropped from 1920X720 to 854X480 pixels. Is that a deal breaker? Well, consider the size before you walk away. The MP-CD1 weighs a paltry 9.9 ounces and measures only 83X16X150mm. You will need an audio option, but a 3.5mm jack on the side has you covered (or use the built-in mono speaker, if that’s your thing).
An HDMI slot will let you connect to your source, be it a laptop or a disc player or game console. It’s also MHL friendly, so it can be attached to a smartphone or tablet via an adapter. Another option is the available HDMI dongle that allows wireless streaming and sharing. The 5,000mAh battery should have enough juice to run the unit for close to three hours, so movies are still an option even without a plug-in.
Whether you’re heading to a boardroom, or want to turn a living room into a theater, this little, mobile projector might serve well.
