Just when you think we’ve reached peak collaboration, Supreme drops a Tamagotchi. Yep, the infamous skate brand has dived deep into the nostalgia basket for a digital pet with a custom logo shell and LCD display. While pricing hasn’t been released just yet, expect to pay more than the $19.99 USD RRP once Supreme slaps its logo on. Resale pricing currently sits at around $120 AUD for the Black colourway at the time of writing. Those looking to fork out a chunk of change for this digital best friend can grab the Tamagotchi as part of the brand’s Spring/ Summer 2023 campaign accessories on March 16 via Supreme’s website and in-store. Alas, maybe the most surprising thing to note is that the original Tamagotchi you probably remember from your childhood has been without any significant update. Think about the changes Pokemon has made over the years, and you’ll be forgiven for wondering how the brand is still around. BANDAI NAMCO has released a free-to-play “My Tamagotchi Forever” App that’s available on the App Store, but that’s about it. Nonetheless, this is a slap of Y2K nostalgia that hypebeasts will struggle to look past. There’s a reason sneakers such as the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 are making a comeback, relate it to music and artists such as PinkPantheress are riding the wave of nostalgia to great success. Just how many Supreme Tamagotchi’s will release is anyone’s guess, but expect to see plenty of these on TikTok and Instagram paired with oversized denim and jean shorts. Those looking to get their hands on this digital best friend can buy the Tamagotchi as part of the brand’s Spring/ Summer 2023 campaign when it launches on March 16 via Supreme’s website and stores.
