Patricks Hair Products

Richie Hall – Video Producer

By now, Patricks should be no stranger to Sydneysiders. The brand, originating in Bondi, offers high performance grooming products for men. Founded 10 years ago by Patrick Kidd, Patricks has gone from strength to strength and captured world-wide attention. The brand first came on my radar through my hairdresser, ByFrance, which stocks their range of styling products. Whilst on the expensive side, I enjoyed the M2 (Matte Finish, Medium Hold). The Bergamot and Sandalwood scent is very pleasant and the product holds well without being sticky or greasy. It also features PRC (Patricks Recovery Compound) which combines damage-reduction and protection technologies scientifically engineered to minimize hair loss and thicken thinning hair. You can find a supercharged version of PRC in their top of the line SH+ (Shampoo) and CD+ (Conditioner). Men of any age and hair type will benefit from these products packed full of innovative hair care goodness.

Champagne Besserat De Bellefon Vintage 2008

Elliott Barsby – Commercial Director

Rather than the standard chocolate treats over Easter, I decided to class it up and bring along a bottle of champagne to the family get-together. Inspired by the French “art de vivre,” the Champagne Besserat de Bellefon Vintage 2008 is a stunning drop. A lovely deep gold colour, there are plenty of citrus and stone fruit flavours with a lovely freshness and mineral length. Interestingly, the unique Besserat de Bellefon production process creates bubbles 30% thinner than traditional Champagne, giving it a beautiful lightness. It paired well with our seafood lunch (and yes, a few chocolate eggs as well) and was a definite hit.

Ltn 25 Momme Mulberry Silk Envelope Pillowcase

Denise Barnes – Head of Branded Content

You know how sheets have a thread count, and generally, the higher the thread count, the better the quality? Well, I recently found out the same applies to silk, but instead of thread count, the term “momme” (pronounced mommy) is used to measure the density and weight of silk (on a scale of 1 – 25), and the higher the momme, the better the quality. So I think you can see where I’m going with this and why the Ltn 25 momme mulberry silk pillowcase is my pick for a Staff Favourite this week. I’ve long been enjoying sleeping on silk pillowcases, not just because of how it feels, but because it’s better for your skin, hair, and health, however, I’ve never experienced the quality of a 25 momme silk pillowcase. I really can feel the difference, and because sleep is such an important part of my life, I honestly believe that it’s so worth investing in. So if you want to elevate your sleep, or gift someone something luxurious, yet affordable, this is it. You’re welcome.

As a Drive to Survive convert and long-time fan of the good ol’ bottle of grapes, I couldn’t think of a better partnership than Daniel Ricciardo and one of Australia’s most esteemed wine brands, St Hugo. I’ve been lucky enough to try the 3rd wine release with the man himself and he looked as chuffed with the result as much as I did being in his presence.

Daniel Ricciardo and St Hugo’s 3rd release features an impeccable 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon that offers up hints of raspberry and bay leaf, as well as a 2021 Shiraz this is dark and brooding, with tons of berry, pomegranate, and raspberry fruit. If I had to pick a favourite, the Shiraz is an absolute winner, packing a punch in the flavour department and smoother than your average Shiraz, likely due to the fruity flavours.

Whilst I never saw myself sitting down with a bottle of red and watching cars go stupidly fast around a track, I think it might be my beverage of choice! The only thing that could improve the experience would be to honour the honey badger with a glass from his glass-shoe decanter.

Whether you’re an F1 or wine fan, this drop is a worthy tribute to the tastebuds (as long as it’s not consumed from your sweaty trainers).

The Botanist Islay Dry Gin

Ben McKimm – Journalist

Ok, so Earth Day is approaching this weekend and while I have plenty of candles at home (and I’m generally pretty good with turning off lights around the house), I didn’t realise this year’s theme was ‘Invest in Our Planet’. With nothing to celebrate the occasion, I found myself looking for a quick and easy way to make a small change for the better and really get into the theme. Someone in the office mentioned these new SodaStream Art Sparkling Water Makers, which will apparently save me around 22 plastic bottles from landfill per month and my mind went straight to tonic water, and GIN. Enter The Botanist Gin, a B Corp certified brand produced in Islay, Scotland. It’s my go-to and is perfect for a classic G&T. Cheers to that!

I never understood coffee culture growing up. I always saw it as something of a crutch that enabled people to use the phrase “not until I’ve had my morning coffee” as an excuse to be unproductive. Well, fast forward to now, and I’ve since developed a genuine appreciation for early mornings as the best way to tackle things like workouts, meditation, and self-care. Having a good morning routine is essential for having a great day, so I’ve finally succumbed to the call of caffeine in order to escape the need for a midday nap.

After trying a wide range of approaches and products, I finally found the most affordable (and enjoyable) way to get my daily coffee hit via the new Nespresso Vertuo Pop coffee machine. Obviously, I also had to go with an option that suits my kitchen’s aesthetic and I love that my Nespresso Vertuo Pop came with six vibrant colours to choose from. Aside from how easy it makes it to savour a cafe-style cup of joe every morning without breaking the bank, I also love that the machine is made from 35 per cent recycled plastic. It really ticks all the boxes and I couldn’t recommend it more!

Ah, another week, another opportunity for you to hear about my latest obsession: running. Yes, I’ve fallen head over heels (or should I say sneakers over pavement) for this activity. Although I still have a long way to go before I reach my goal of completing a half marathon, my new kicks make me look like a pro as I huff and puff my way around the park. For those tracking my progress, I managed to clock an impressive 12 kilometres the other day – the farthest I’ve run since my acne-ridden teenage years when I tackled the City to Surf (although I must confess I walked about a quarter of it).

Now, let’s talk gear. The newest addition to my running collection is the Adidas UltraBoost Light. If you’re a sneaker fanatic like me, you’ve probably already snagged a pair of the iconic shoes at some point. These babies perform just as well on the track as they do on the streets, and the Light version is no different – except for a few unique features. As the name suggests, the iconic BOOST material is made with 30% lighter foam, and let me tell you, it’s made a noticeable difference in my splits. Plus, the Continental Rubber outsole offers unbeatable traction in wet and dry conditions – something that will come in handy as Sydney’s winters have been wetter than a fish’s gills lately.

All in all, I highly recommend picking up a pair and feeling the difference for yourself. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
