Uniqlo Crafts Simple Sophistication with ‘Future Forward’ Autumn/Winter Collection

Calling to mind timeless basics, we always gravitate towards UNIQLO. Easily one of the most sought-after retailers for refined essentials, UNIQLO releases its highly anticipated Autumn/Winter Fashion Collection for 2022 “Future Forward”. A collection inspired by the present and future, UNIQLO’s latest line takes design cues from artistic director Christophe Lemaire and his team based in Paris. Gaining prominence in the 90s, the visionary has also had a share in the direction of brands like Lacoste and served as artistic director of women’s ready-to-wear at Hermès. However, since his unique partnership in 2015 with the brand (UNIQLO AND LEMAIRE collaboration), Christophe Lemaire has brought a new imprint of contemporary living to the clothing.

The word-class designers went into this collection with the primary intention to reimagine everyday clothes. Therefore, the collection pursues smart features created with the modern man in mind, considering innovative materials and precise pattern work. Originated from the iconic UNIQLO R&D Centers, the collection is born out of experimentation in these design spaces to chase new ideas, innovate and create.

With endless options for women, men, and kids, the articles are meticulously crafted for daily life and experiences on the go. The transitional pieces offer practical details and muted tones for a relaxing palette intended for any occasion. Comfort is kept top of mind with softness and layering at the core of the versatile looks. Whether heading out to an anniversary dinner or catching the game at home, Uniqlo’s “Future Forward” collection brings subtle sophistication to any occasion.

It’s clear for this season, UNIQLO draws from classic silhouettes. Clean and relaxed shapes lead the forefront for autumn and winter fits. The U Fleece Cardigan departs from the usual sweater, opting for more uniform and oversized dimensions. The U Wide Fit Work Pants channel industrial-inspired tailoring. The bottoms are an easy staple for autumn, coming in colours like khaki, black, and dark brown. Another favourite among the collection is the U single-breasted coat. The piece’s adaptability is minimal and polished, making for easy layering with a classic UNIQLO sweater or shirt. All the details carry the same modern aesthetic with elegance and poise.

However, it’s the improved technology and initiatives coming from the brand this year that have us buzzing. This autumn, new socks have added HEATTECH technology to keep us bundled up with the looming cold. UNIQLO also took strides in improving their Recycle Down Jacket, enhancing the fit and feel. Sourced from pre-owned garments, the Paris team developed a new fabric within the jacket using 40% recycled nylon. In addition, with sustainability a continuous effort for the brand, “Future Forward” was created keeping in mind the longevity of the pieces.

You can now peek at the entire collection via the link below. Selected styles will also be available at UNIQLO Emporium, Chadstone and Mid City stores from 10th March.
