High-performance technical footwear is at the heart of everything Salomon has accomplished since its French inception all the way back in 1947. More than just a sneaker brand, today, the shoes have become a fashion must-have, growing alongside the technical outerwear trend propagated by Japanese outdoor brands such as Comfy Outdoor Garments, and wander, and South2 West8, alongside North American classics like Arc’tyrex.
If you’re going to wear a piece from any of the brands listed above, you better pair it with some Salomon sneakers.

Since the fashion conscience made it vogue to wear a pair of Salomon XT-4 or XT-6 sneakers with just about anything that permeates a less than traditional ‘gorp’ aesthetic, the brand has been looking in its archives to regenerate some unfound gems. They’ve done the same with the latest Salomon silhouette, and it’s got sneakerheads excited – introducing the Salomon ACS Pro Advanced – a name that dually fits the personality of such a technical silhouette.
Rooted in history, the pair we see today has been updated from the mid-2000s with a stride-stabilizing Agile Chassis System (ACS). This system maintains the trail legacy of the original but twists the upper to better fit a modern aesthetic, tailor-made for the streets of Paris as much as the Colorado Rockies.
Most notably along the lateral and medial sides of the shoe is a distinguished cage-like addition dubbed the ‘Kurim structure’ that provides a steady and sturdy envelope for your foot. Alongside this is a range of strategically placed openings designed to optimise airflow. Overall, the sneaker offers a mix between the contemporary styling of something like the Adidas Climacool and the traditional styling of a Nike Pegasus.
Look for the Salomon ACS Pro Advanced to drop at select Australian retailers such as Supply Store, Sneakerboy, and the Salomon Australia website from the week starting December 20th, 2021. Our suggestion would be to act quickly, if the USA release was anything to go by, these sneakers won’t sit on the shelves for long.
