Uber Reserve is Slinging 50% Off this Weekend
Being an ‘Airport Dad’ has become a way of life; a philosophy of being over prepared whilst simultaneously stressed. It means you’re in charge of yourself, of others you’re travelling with and of the overall success and smoothness of the travel experience.
While our social media feeds poke fun at these Type A personalities, new research from Uber Reserve has revealed Aussies identify heavily with this characteristic, with stress and over-preparedness prompting Airport Dad mode to be activated more often than we think.
As many Aussies escape winter and head overseas, planning ahead has proved crucial for eager travellers; new Uber Reserve data reveals 5am is the most popular time for pre-booking a ride to the airport.
To honour all the Airport Dads out there, Uber Reserve is slinging 50% off this weekend, ($30 max saving, one trip per rider account, CODE: AIRPORTDAD).

Maybe Sammy’s Takes Over Icebergs Bar
If you haven’t heard already, four of Sydney’s most iconic bars are taking over for Icebergs Winter Sundays. Double Deuce steered the ship for their first iteration earlier this month with 70s-inspired drinks, tunes and a retro snackable echidna centrepiece.
Next up, it’s Maybe Sammy — kicking off at 4pm on August 6. They almost need no introduction, but let’s just say they’ve been named in the World’s Top 50 Bars many times over and make some of the most inventive cocktails around.
On the menu? There’ll be four drinks created specially for one night only and, of course, snacks made in collaboration with Alex Prichard. Think Yuzu prawn toast; wasabi, pineapple and fennel; our Harry’s Bar sandwich with truffle; and marshmallows roasted over coals.
Young Henrys Unveil their New Brewers B-Side ‘Phantasmic Mr Hops’ Experimental IPA
Newtown brewers and distillers, Young Henrys have revealed their latest experimental IPA and Brewers B-Side to join their stacked beer roster, Phantasmic Mr Hops. A Young Henrys take on the Wes Anderson classic – inspired by the viral TikTok trend – Phantasmic Mr Hops is a 7% experimental IPA utilising an innovative new flavour-producing compound named Phantasm.
A powder derived from New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc grapes, Phantasm is your taste ticket to tropical beer land. The organic compound increases the production of thiols, which are the aroma-active ingredients responsible for jacking up the fruity and juicy flavours in your brewski. It’s basically the MSG for beer.
The result is a flavour sensation, drawing waves of caramelised coconut, sautéed pineapple and vacation citrus in every sip before giving way to a creamy luxurious body and mouthfeel.
Welcome to CanBEERa
Uber Eats has today announced the launch of a petition to change the name of our nation’s capital to CanBEERa, in recognition of the wealth of craft breweries in the region. As a tribute to the nation’s capital being a ‘hop spot’ for local brewers, Uber Eats is calling on Australians to rally behind the petition to rename the city, hoping to deliver enough signatures to officially present it to Parliament by National Beer Day on Friday 4 August.
The initiative coincides with the launch of Uber Eats alcohol delivery service, with Canberrans joining the rest of the east coast capitals in being able to order alcohol from local merchants through the app.The tongue in cheek campaign is launching in partnership with some of the territory’s favourite breweries, including Capital Brewery.
Laurence Kain from Capital Brewery, the ACT’s largest independent brewery, said: “Craft beer has taken off in Australia with Canberra over-indexing when it comes to brewing some of Australia’s best beers. So it’s only right that we grant the Capital with this honorary title.”
Uber Eats sent a Town Crier to Parliament House today to officially announce the intention to lodge the petition and encourage locals to support the initiative. A ‘Welcome to CanBEERa’ sign has popped up on the outskirts of the capital, to remind visitors to the city of one of their most prized, emerging local industries.
In support of the petition, and to help even more Australians discover the country’s impressive array of small batch brewers – many of whom also hail from outside the capital – Uber Eats is launching a 30% off selected beer items at selected stores in the ACT, Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales.
