Mercedes-AMG Unveils ‘Revolutionary’ Hyperanalog Interior
Remember when you went to the beach as a kid and your dad wouldn’t let you get in the car until every grain of sand was removed from your body? Well, after seeing the new Mercedes-AMG ‘Hyperanalog’ interior, we sort of get it. The esteemed automotive line has just dropped the first images of the new cockpit interior design, presumably for its long-anticipated new SL. Talk about luxe.

Bearing a striking resemblance to the minimalist style of the original 300 SL Roadster, it’s not hard to see where the Hyperanalog interior gets its cues from. The continuous screen we’ve seen in previous Mercedes models has been dropped, replaced by a separate central display. The futuristic MBUX infotainment system area also houses a middle screen that can be tilted to prevent reflection from the sun.
Behind the wheel, Hyperanalog interior owners will score a massive 12.3-inch screen that Mercedes-AMG says is inspired by aviation. For those looking to up the mood, you can choose from 64 colours for the lighting with sound coming from Burmester speakers.
On the comfort side of things, the new SL returns to a 2+2 configuration, a seating configuration that hasn’t been available since 1989. This handy little addition means you can easily transport the whole family, but then again, it’s unlikely you’ll want to do that. The extra seat compartments are best utilised for storage and functionality like a wind deflector if the rear seats aren’t in use.

While the latest announcement does give AMG fans a closer look at the inside of the upcoming SL, there are still a number of unknowns. The hotly anticipated Mercedes-AMG SL should replace the current AMG GT Roadster next year, with Mercedes suggesting the new convertible will be more versatile than the current GT. Not much is really known about the engine, but given the pressure on emissions reduction, a plug-in hybrid powertrain looks to be likely. Nevertheless, Mercedes-AMG isn’t being modest about the new Hyperanalog interior.

“The result is a revolutionary interior experience in the field of tension between digital and analog luxury,” the marque wrote. “We’ve created the most iconic SL yet, the luxury icon of the 1920s.” That’s high praise, if you do say so yourself.
