Open back prom dresses have always been considered sexy, but who would have thought that the same would apply to a pair of headphones? Grado Labs recently unveiled their GW100 Wireless Headphones and their open back design will have audiophiles drooling.
Grado Labs is a family-run company that has come to be known for their open back designs on headphones that are meant for everyone from entry-level to acoustic engineers. For the longest time, the company has avoided adding a wireless option to their lineup, but they’ve finally given in. “We feel the technology has gotten to the point where we feel it would be worth it for us to start getting our feet wet,” said Grado Labs CEO John Grado.
The GW100 uses Bluetooth 4.2 with aptX handles and has a range of 10 meters. With a 15-hour battery life, the GW100 pales in comparison to other brands, but the audio quality is so much higher than the shorter life is more than compensated for (and when do you need more than 15 hours of listening time anyway?).
Plus, the GW100 has reduced escaping sound by 60 per cent in comparison to wired headphones. The GW100 can also pair with your phone and a built-in microphone picks up your half of the conversation. The headphones also have controls to let you adjust the volume, skip tracks, and pause. But it’s that alluring open back that will have you admiring the beauty of these headphones.
