Sony’s EXTRA BASS Wireless Speaker Line-Up Punches the Bass

“Customers expect best-in-class sound when they purchase any Sony audio product, and these new wireless speakers are no exception,” says Mike Fasulo, president, and chief operating officer for Sony Electronics North America, about the new Extra Bass wireless speaker line-up that Sony recently announced. “This new lineup offers peak performance by creating clear, full sound with new colours and a compact stylish design.” The new additions to the wireless speaker line include the SRS-XB43, SRS-XB33, and SRS-XB23.

Sony's New EXTRA BASS speaker

Just as the name suggests, the wireless speakers offer plenty of bass thanks to the layout of the passive radiators, which is optimised to produce clear bass. The Mica Reinforced Cellular cone and dust cap are rigid and lightweight and contribute to the sound quality as well. Sony also employed their newly developed X-Balanced Speaker into this lineup for higher quality audio and more powerful sound pressure. The non-circular shape of the speaker diaphragm increases the sound pressure for a bass that hits harder. As an example, Sony reports that their XB33 sound pressure is increased by 30 per cent with a decrease in distortion by 25 per cent compared to previous models. The speakers also boast a 2-way speaker system that combines the woofer for low-to-mid frequencies with a dedicated tweeter for the higher frequencies, creating even more powerful sound and vocal clarity.

The new speakers also are water-resistant and dust and rustproof, so you can take them wherever you want to go. Extensive shock testing was also performed on the speakers to make sure that they could stand up to everyday use. The LIVE SOUND Mode produces a 3-dimensional sound, making it seem like you are at a live music event. For a real party, you can connect up to 100 compatible wireless speakers with Bluetooth technology, as well as make use of the multi-colour speaker lighting. The speakers have an extended battery as well, with a battery life that will keep you partying for up to 24 hours on a full charge. Best of all the speakers are affordable. The XB43 model is priced at $249.99, the XB33 at $149.99, and the XB23 at $99.99. You can pre-order all three on Sony’s website.
