Driven by the desire to reclaim her throne as the queen of pop, she finds herself irresistibly drawn to the charismatic nightclub owner/ self-help guru and the head of a contemporary cult, Tedros (portrayed by Tesfaye). Their new electrifying connection sparks a rejuvenating flame within Jocelyn, simultaneously stirring concern and intrigue among her entire team.

In the latest trailer, we are treated to the budding relationship between Tedros and Jocelyn. As their connection strengthens and deepens, a palpable concern begins to emerge among Jocelyn’s team. The trailer opens with Tedros’ voice, who appears to be inspiring Jocelyn, by saying, “You’re the American dream. Rags to riches. Trailers to mansions. You are f***ing Jocelyn. Just be you.”

His voice is paired with footage of both Tedros and Jocelyn together, as well as snapshots from Jocelyn’s glamorous yet tumultuous life. In one of the shots, Jocelyn’s manager, Dee (played by Da’Vine Joy Randolph), candidly says that the industry is still “gauging” whether Jocelyn truly exemplifies what the industry or the public wants. As the trailer unfolds, we catch a glimpse of Jocelyn struggling to record a song, when Tedros comes to her aid and places a cloth over her eyes, a gesture to help her “block out all the noise.”

“You’re too distracted, you need to block out all the noise,” says Tedros. In response, one of the individuals present, puzzled by Tedros’ presence, queries, “I’m sorry, who are you?” Later in the trailer, Jocelyn sees her career bloom, leading her to proclaim her newfound love for Tedros, exclaiming, “I think I just fell in love with you.”

As the trailer delves deeper into Tedros’ world, we get to see a captivating narrative of how he has subtly and completely influenced Jocelyn’s actions. The trailer ends with Jocelyn’s manager, Dee, adding a touch of humorous scepticism to the mix, cautioning with a cheeky remark, “Never trust a man with a rat tail.”

Teaming up with Tesfaye and Depp, The Idol boasts an ensemble cast brimming with star power. Joining the ranks are talented actors like Dan Levy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Eli Roth, Hari Nef, Jane Adams, Jennie Ruby Jane, Mike Dean, Moses Sumney, Rachel Sennott, Ramsey, Suzanna Son, and Hank Azaria.
