Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are Teaming Up for a New Apple TV+ Series
Long-time pals and HBO True Detective co-stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are plotting a small-screen reunion, joining forces for a new Apple TV+ comedy series. This currently untitled television show is being billed as a 10-episode half-hour comedy and is the brainchild of Emmy-winning creator David West Read, who’s best known for his work on Schitt’s Creek. Perhaps strangest of all, both Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are set to star as themselves in the show. Alright, alright, alright.

Importantly, the long-time bros won’t be alone. Both McConaughey’s and Harrelson’s families are also along for the ride, attempting to live together on McConaughey’s Texas ranch. Naturally, living together in such close proximity is going to put their friendship to the test and cause things to spiral out of control.
Last seen together in the first season of HBO’s 2014 crime drama True Detective, McConaughey and Harrelson have crossed paths on a number of occasions, including the 1998 mockumentary Welcome to Hollywood, the 1999 satire EDtv, and the 2008 sports comedy Surfer, Dude. Now the duo is all set to take their “strange and beautiful bond” to a whole new level with Apple TV+’s upcoming comedy series.

As per the official logline, “The untitled comedy is a heartfelt odd couple love story revolving around the strange and beautiful bond between Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Matthew and Woody’s friendship is tested when their combined families attempt to live together on Matthew’s ranch in Texas.”
This new series marks the newest collaboration between Apple TV+ and Skydance, which also produces The Big Door Prize, which also comes from creator David West Read. Besides starring, McConaughey and Woody are also executive producing the series along with Read, Dana Goldberg and Matt Thunell of Skydance, Bill Bost and Jeremy Plager. As of writing, no release date or trailers have been shared and it’s unclear how far along the series has reached internally. That said, we already are excited to see the duo back in action together and can’t wait to see what erratic adventures they embark upon.
