Tackling the compelling story of American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer (Murphy), whose work through the Manhattan Project led to the development of the first nuclear weapons, the film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer and it looks set to deliver yet another grand, tactile spectacle of the kind only Nolan can muster.

Somewhat predictably, actors are lining up around the block to work with the man behind The Prestige, Interstellar, and Dunkirk. As such, Oppenheimer boasts one of the most impressive casts we’ve ever seen. Joining Murphy are the likes of Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., and Florence Pugh, along with—deep breath—Gary Oldman, Kenneth Branagh, Jack Quaid, Olivia Thirlby, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, and Rami Malek.
