Conor McGregor Attacks Michael Chandler in Explosive TUF 31 Trailer
Fight fans won’t have to wait much longer to witness The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 31, coached by lightweight brawlers Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler. Kicking off May 30, the UFC recently dropped the first trailer for the upcoming season and it’s filled with more beef than the Irishman’s diet. Up until this point, we had only heard rumours of the animosity between the pair, but the tantalising teaser clearly shows McGregor and Chandler getting physical – in a classic throat choaking kind of way. Bravo Dana White, we’re officially hooked.

Obviously, the biggest headline heading into Season 31 is the altercation between McGregor and Chandler. “Chandler and Conor were very respectful to each other,” UFC President Dana White said during a recent press conference. “And then some things started escalating that you’ll see on the show, and yeah … they do not like each other now. A lot of s—t went down. I don’t look at stuff good for the show or things like that. Whatever happens, happens. The stuff that just happened shouldn’t have happened and … I’m getting old, boys. I’m getting old. I would have been in there sooner in the old days, but … yeah. Not good.”
While we see McGregor training hard in the preview clip, we’re yet to receive confirmation on his actual Octagon comeback. It was reported by MMA News that the matchup with Chandler was supposed to take place sometime in September 2023, but McGregor must first re-enter into the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency drug testing pool for six months before a fight can be officially inked. So unless McGregor decides to dish out blood and urine samples in the next couple of weeks, we would likely have to wait until 2024 for his return.
Spreading more doubt over his return, former middleweight and lightweight contender Chael Sonnon has even suggested McGregor may never fight in the UFC again. Chandler, however, believes the showdown will go ahead given the effects a pull-out would have on his legacy in the sport. Nonetheless, The Ultimate Fighter 31 (Team McGregor vs Team Chandler) is scheduled to premiere later this month on May 30 via ESPN and ESPN+ with episodes dropping weekly.
