Feel-Good Friday: 9 August 2024 – Festive Flowers and Post-Run Showers

The weekend is coming, and our bodies are ready. After a blockbuster few days in the Man of Many office, the team is eager to head out and enjoy the sunshine in what looks to be an incredible turn of climate. If the rain holds out, you can bet we’ll be sitting in the sun enjoying a few beverages, but before we do – there is work to be done. Here’s Feel-Good Friday for this week.

Daffodil Day Fundraising Celebrations 2024 at Rialto

Melbourne’s iconic Rialto is set to host a series of events for the Cancer Council’s annual Daffodil Day on Wednesday, August 21st, and Thursday, August 22nd. The two-day series will help to fund life-saving cancer research, transforming the Piazza into a sea of cheerful daffodils. Visitors can wander through the field of flowers, discover new neon light installations and add their own personal messages of hope to the tribute tree.

With one in two Australians diagnosed with cancer by the time they are 85, Rialto’s general manager, Sarah Herbert, said it was an important cause to get behind. The Cancer Council partner hopes that the immersive experience will encourage Melbourne residents to take up support.

“Cancer Council’s annual Daffodil Day is one that’s very close to our hearts,” Herbert said. “With almost 100 Victorians diagnosed with cancer every day, so many people are touched by this disease in one way or another. The more we give, the more lives can be saved.”

Daffodil Day at Rialto 2024 will be held between 7:30am – 5:30pm on Wednesday 21 August and Thursday 22 August 2024. Both the flower display and Carla O-Brien’s neon art installation display are free to view, with daffodil bunches for sale from $12 per jar or $30 per bunch (30 stems), with all proceeds going to Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day to fund life-saving cancer research.

Oporto is Slinging FREE Double Bondi Burgers for City2Surf

If Bondi is known for anything, it is undoubtedly the City2surf run and fast-casual chicken chain Oporto. Okay, the beach is pretty good, too, but it’s nothing compared to a freshly made Bondi Burger. Now, those two fan favourites are coming together as one, with Oporto announcing it is giving away FREE Double Bondi Burgers at the original Bondi Beach location to this year’s City2surf participants.

From 9am on race day (11 August), participants need only head over to the Bondi Beach store, show their race bib, and they’ll be rewarded with a delicious chicken burger (while stocks last). To complete the race look, Oporto will also be giving away free, limited-edition merch in-store.
