Uber is Giving Away a Multi-Million Dollar Pool of Savings

Uber One’s first-ever EOFY sale has kicked off, with the united membership program (which features Uber and Uber Eats) offering a massive amount of savings across a pool of deals. Uber One members can save up to $200 on exclusives during June, on top of the usual benefits like $0 Delivery Fees. There are also savings from grocers like Coles, Woolworths Metro, IGA, Spudshed and QE Foodstores and special offers from neighbourhood liquor stores. Finally, as a unified membership linking Delivery and Mobility, Uber One members are able to claim $15 off a Reserve trip and 20% off Uber Pool and Uber Comfort trips during June. How good is that?

“This is a beefy EOFY offer designed to drive additional demand to small business owners across Australia as they get ready to sign off on their financial year on a positive note, while also offering something unforgettable for our loyal Uber One members,” head of Uber One, Australia Alice Hudson, said. “While we know the average Australian already saves nearly $30 a month with Uber One, we hope by boosting that savings pool to potentially north of $200 this month, that every member is able to mark the halfway point of 2023 in a memorable way.”

Best of all, the first ten thousand new entrants to enrol into Uber’s membership program and successfully type the code BEEFYEOFY into the promotional section of their app, will be able to nab a $100 saving at a restaurant this month. How good is that?

Win the chance to meet Michael Bublè

Singer Michael Bublé caused a stir when a video surfaced of him playfully defacing cans of bubly, a naturally flavoured sparkling water, following its launch in Australia. Bublé, known for his name being misspelled, expressed his frustration with the spelling by altering cans destined for stores. Aussies who find one of the 15 defaced cans have a chance to win a meet and greet with Bublé in Canada. To find out where defaced cans will be hidden, Aussies will need to follow bubly on Instagram and Facebook. With bubly now available nationwide, Australians can enjoy its new flavours at major retailers like Coles, Woolworths, and Independent supermarkets.

Google AI is Helping to Monitor the Sounds and Songs of Wildlife

Google and QUT (Queensland University of Technology) are joining forces to advance biodiversity monitoring using AI technology. They have developed an AI model that utilizes automatic audio detection to identify and monitor bird species, specifically focusing on the Glossy Black Cockatoo, a threatened bird found in Australia. The model separates and enhances the bird sounds, filtering out background noise. This collaboration is part of Google’s Digital Future Initiative, which aims to invest in Australian infrastructure, research, and partnerships.

The model’s impressive results have the potential to aid in land management and biodiversity protection decisions. By extending these tools to identify threatened and invasive species, such as koalas and cane toads, the partnership will support conservation efforts across Australia and preserve the country’s rich biodiversity.
